Fish tank

Post by Guest »

So I got a pretty nice aquarium and I'm planning on building a self sustaining mini ecosystem in there, anyone know of anything cool I could make? I'm pretty novice to the whole thing but it seems really interesting, I'd like to get a few different coral plants and some nice fish in there. I currently only have 3 fish in there that look like oversized goldfish. They're huge too about the size of a fist.

Not really.... The bigger the tank, the better off you are.

I've had a 200 gallon salt tank for over 7 years. Other than adding water every two weeks, it's no hassle at all.

I don't think so, right now I just have those three fish in there that I bought from someone. The tank is basicly all I wanted it's pretty large. I was thinking of going saltwater though, I might have to get rid of these fish cause they're too big. Litteraly one is the size of my fist. I imagine a fish that size would probably just eat any smaller fish.

Idealy what I want is to have a varied number of species, prefferably some crustaceans, snails and a mix of fish.

Well if they're not salt water fish, they'll die if you put them in salt water.

And you're not going to raise any coral in fresh water.

Taste the water.... If it's salty....

Live rock is the most difficult thing to keep alive. Not the place for a novice to start. Besides, it's going to cost you an arm and a leg to get all of the components to keep the rock alive.

My mate used to have these two fishes with retractable fins on the top of their bodies. When we got stoned, we'd take them out of the tank by the fins and fly them around the room like aeroplanes and have dogfights.

A few things you'll need, besides the fish tank.

Wet/Dry Filter system
Charcoal Filter system
Protein Skimmer
Water Chiller system
Water Heaters
Metal Halide Lighting
UV Lighting
Timers
Thermostats
Salinity Meter
Chemical Test Kit.

After all that.... Wait until you see the price of live rock.

Sounds like a Trigger Fish. Those types of fish are some mean bastards. Next time you're by his place, pick up some feeder gold fish and drop them in the tank. The Triggers will attack them like Parana.

And do you really think that Kracus has a tank that big? I bet he has about %10 of what you have.

EDIT: Imagine this tard trying to measure the specific gravity of his tank...

I don't know. I wouldn't guess he'd have a tank quite that big. But you can do a salt set-up in anything 55 gallons and up pretty easily.

I wish I knew how many gallons the tank is...

It's about 4 feet long and maybe 3 feet high and about 1 foot wide.

I'm thinking I'm gonna try a live sandbed with some live rock. I'm reading up on it as we speak, if you got any good websites post em up.

If your measurements are correct, it's about 90 Gallons.

GL with the live rock, you're gonna need it.
