...at least, none running vanilla, OSP or ProMode. Sucks. Even Quake Live only hosts out of Sydney and I ping ~80 there.
Thinking about raising a dedicated server on a VPS. Anyone ever hosted a Q3 server on a VM? Does it work or is it choppy?
No Q3 servers in NZ ;(

It works. Q3A doesn't need much memory so you can get away with the budget hosting plan. Just make sure the physical machine your VM is running on, isn't heavily overbooked.

Sweet. I was worried that time slicing might mess with sv_fps in some wierd ways.
I'm gonna talk to our firewall guy at work about hosting one, since we offer packages that are comparable already, just for regular web hosting.

Used to play Freeze tag like a mofo on kiwi servers. Just harden up and play with an 80 ping, that's nothing too bad.
Thick, solid and tight in all the right places.

You're right, it ain't all bad. I'm placing reasonably well on the Sydney servers. The only Q3 server in NZ I've found are running Urban Terror or freeze. No CA ;(LawL wrote:Used to play Freeze tag like a mofo on kiwi servers. Just harden up and play with an 80 ping, that's nothing too bad.
