ct3tourney1 - speed map

Post by cityy »

Inspired by Pat's "A well oiled toaster", AEon's AEneon and ZPDM01 by ZEphYR (http://lvlworld.com/review.php?id=1830) I started working on a cel shaded speed map.

I recommend to play it in cpma tourney. I hope everything is working - as always feedback is highly appreciated. :toothy:

Thanks to Phantazm11 for leading this map to where it is right now. :)

I played a few games on this. I enjoyed the layout a bit. The only bits that really concern me are the mega health area (essentially tele-only), and the amount of armors. I think the mega should be more centralized and there should be one yellow armor for such a small map. That's just my opinion, though.

I also liked the cel shadering. The bricks look good with it. :)

Good visuals, nice style.

Imho, too many armor and RA atrium is overweighted: RA > MH, LG+RG > SG. Maybe replace RA with GA or switch MH and RA.

MH is easy to grab via RJ, or simple jumping door-column(or what it is)-on-wall lamp.

I think it would look better if the textures were more stylized and had less detail... Maybe the JP swirly thing would look better if they were smaller, solid rectangles instead of a gradient-ed ball.

And make it bigger! ;)

Edit: also the garish lighting clashes with the really depressing sky

Indeed, but from the platform below you are simply unable to jump up to the mega; you have to fall down to the tele or move back to strafe over. It would be nice if there was a small ledge there that would allow a player to jump on it and jump again to reach mega.

Thanks for the feedback so far guys - I didn't expect that much! Looking into it. :)

I am sorry to disappoint you Kaz but I wont make it bigger, because it was meant to be a speed map and I wanted to keep the current layout - I will think about item placcement tho.

What do you mean? I should make the textures more comic like?
Anthem wrote: Indeed, but from the platform below you are simply unable to jump up to the mega;
From the platform with the green light beam you can jump on the blue lamp below the mega and then up to the mega. :)
I am going to release a video with some jumps later!

It's too small! Add more rooms, and remove some items, it's overweighted now.
