help, computer doesnt work

So I changed motherboards and put all my stuff into an A7N8X and when I turn on the computer I don't get an image and the pc speaker does long beeps.

Ok, now my computer reboots during winxp booting. Whats the problem? ATA/133 stuff?

could be wrong...but if it's not the same chipset you have to reinstall.

I believe same chipsets will allow you not to, but I always would recommend a fresh install of Windows with a new mobo or graphics cad if going from ATi to nVIDIA or vise versa.

If there are docs and files you need from the HDD and don't want to risk loosing I suggest you mount your drive in another computer, make sure it is not the boot drive and then get the files off the drive that way

Also, the "beeps" you were hearing are codes. Count the # of long or short, and look up what they mean. Either in your motherboard manual or one Asus' website.

Different codes can mean things like errors with the graphics card, or RAM, etc to help diagnose problems. They're not just random beeps....usually.

Fresh install it is then.

If you have content in your 'My Documents' folder or such which you need to save, you may need to find a spare old hard drive, or borrow one, and load windows onto that... then you cna back up your documents before reloading windows onto your drive.
