can it be that bad? there's a woman at work who's bipolar.Geebs wrote:Bipolar.
Easily - I obviously don't know if that's her actual diagnosis, but the upswing is generally the bit in which people fuck up their own lives out of all recognitionDoombrain wrote:can it be that bad? there's a woman at work who's bipolar.Geebs wrote:Bipolar.
Hells yeah. I have a close relative who's bipolar. Absolutely fine for maybe 4-5 years at a time, then something happens and fuuuuuuuuck they're off in la-la land for 2-10 months at a time.Geebs wrote:Easily - I obviously don't know if that's her actual diagnosis, but the upswing is generally the bit in which people fuck up their own lives out of all recognitionDoombrain wrote:can it be that bad? there's a woman at work who's bipolar.
fuck off xerosxer0s wrote:Without seeing her "other side", how can you assume it's bipolar and not just full blown schizophrenia?
Because schizophrenics don't have "other sides." You're thinking of multiple personality disorder.xer0s wrote:Without seeing her "other side", how can you assume it's bipolar and not just full blown schizophrenia?
Thata why I was saying. We haven't seen another side to her, so we don't know that she has one...werldhed wrote:Because schizophrenics don't have "other sides." She might be schizophrenic or schizoaffective and is just hallucinating, but Geebs is right, this is probably bipolar.
Or she's just a stupid wiccan and has convinced herself it's true.
Actually... bipolars don't hallucinate. Moods swing from one extreme to another rapidly. Emotions are amplified. You are overly happy, sad, angry... etc. The farthest you get from reality is thinking it's a good idea to harm someone. Bipolars - generally - don't believe they are from other planets. But yes, it's some scary shit.Foo wrote:tl;dr bipolar is some scary shit.
Ah... I see what you were getting at. Never mind, then.xer0s wrote: Thata why I was saying. We haven't seen another side to her, so we don't know that she has one...

Just under half of the participants reported experiencing true hallucinations during their illness. Participants tended to report visual hallucinations in mania and auditory hallucinations in depression.
Study was too small and I doubt had participants that suffered solely from bipolar. Thing about bipolar is that it leads to other mental disorders. That is why a lot of bipolars are diagnosed schitzo. Bipolar can go hand in hand with multiple other disorders. I have been diagnosed as severe bipolar, and have studied many cases of bipolar - face to face - and witnessed various multi- disorders. I was not impressed by the half-assed "survey" done on your Cambridge site. I am more willing to assert data derived in practical application. Thanks for the link though.werldhed wrote:stuff & things
