For the third time, MaverickServers is hosting a Quake 3 mapping competition. Mappers from the community are encouraged to participate; veteran mappers and those looking to get into mapping are welcome to join in on the fun. Prizes will be awarded to the best maps.

The contest will start in late May or early June and run for roughly 10 weeks. Judging will occur for 1 week after. Registration deadline is 3 weeks after the start date (roughly around June 21st). More information will be posted here and on the main competition forums as it becomes available.

AMD, ATI, Sapphire, Autodesk, Planetside Software, and Crucial were the last competition sponsors and provided some really great incentives.

-Doesn't necessarily have to support a specific gametype or mod, but you are welcome to specify one
-Map must be previously unreleased or a new design. Please no map remakes or edits.
-Map must contain sponsor images. Gotta show some thanks, right?
-Full rule listing at the main competition website

JUDGING:

-Will be done by a panel of experienced players and mappers who are familiar with that map's chosen audience (ie: a CPM map is judged by CPM players, a CTF map is judged by CTF players, etc)

-Judges: TBA

- The winner(s) receiving money as a prize are required to have a Paypal.com account.

Note to potential competitors: the orange piglet I received from Crucial/Ballistix was more than enough compensation for the time and effort. It's so cute! :P

Gee. Honestly, I didn't expect that there are mapping competitions this big for this old, dusty engine until I went back into business.
Gonna take a look at the winner map to see whether I stand any chance if I were to try my luck next time an opportunity like this arises.
