Dead Island for £24 / Arkham City £15

Post by brisk »

From Green Man Gaming

Once you've signed up, use this code at checkout: READY-UPDEA-ISLAN

It's a Steamworks game, so they send you the activation code immediately afterwards so you can activate it on Steam. I pre-loaded mine last night. Oh and cos you're signing up through me, they also give you £5 off future purchases you make too....

... which is where you buy Arkham City for £15, by using the code 20SUM-MERSA-VINGS and the £5 credit you get for signing up / buying Dead Island!

I just use Paypal (though all the debit/credit cards are accepted) and you can sign up from anywhere in EU/USA etc and they just convert the savings to your currency. Seriously, GMG is pissing all over Steam at the moment for good deals. Oh and if you don't think it's legit, there's a whole 10 page thread on the Steam forums here from people who've bought it from there. Great site

It just takes me to the main page, with no special link or sign up process. I.e. same as it would if I just click sign up :(

That Batman deals too good to pass up on :(

Oh and for the non-UKers, they send you the regional Steam version of Dead Island for your territory, eg the USA version for the yanks and the German version for the krauts, etc... so no need for VPN shit to activate

Nope, no credit :( Boo!

Looking at it:

"Once you spend £5.00 with Green Man Gaming, you'll receive your own personalized referral link.

Share this link with your friends and when they start buying, you’ll start earning. For every friend you refer who then spends a minimum of £5.00, we will credit both your accounts £5.00. If you’ve got lots of mates, you could be quids in!

To find out more about our refer-a-friend scheme, please click here."

I don't think you shared the right link? Nice you both get five squids. I've used two emails on this now, so if you have to enter another to refer, add jobs@team-blur-games.com lol, I'll register with that one. Five quid in it for ya ;)

Sadly not, but those two games make for a good deal combo anyway. £6 cheaper than it is on Steam with that code.

You can use the 2nd Arkham code without the £5 bonus if you don't want Dead Island and get it for £20 instead, so still a great deal.

I was watching vids of people playing Dead Island earlier and it looks superb  Can't wait to co-op that shit.

As for Arkham City, that's guarenteed to be amazing anyway.

Cheers brisk, bargain. Was I supposed to get a Steam code for Batman as well though? 'cos it doesn't give me one, just says that I'll need to install "Capsule".

Edit: Ah, excuse my "Murrrr"ment; of course there won't be a Steam code yet; the game's released in October :E

I don't think you get a steam code for Batman, since GMG uses capsule to launch their games (it's a tiny little app) and it doesn't use steamworks. You just download directly from them and launch it. I *think* there's no GFWL protection with them either, but don't quote me on that.
Some good news on the GMG Twitter - to quote:
We've just received notice from Warner's that Batman is Games for Windows but NOT a Games for Windows 'Live' title!

Also regarding other DRMs:
Our version is a Capsule title that will be using Securom, sorry. /Rob

For the record - if it's going to be Capsule version of SecuROM DRM it will not have the activation limit standard SecuROM does (like the one featured in Arkham Asylum).
That has changed though and it looks like it does use GFWL afterall. Not a massive deal since the steam version also includes GFWL shit if you use it and i've got an offline account already sorted :)

Batman is GFWL, and if you buy through GMG you get a Windows Live code... Which is another store front.

Which is why I never bought it in the end :(
