I find it funny how officials keep saying that "the terrorists didn't win".

Full body scanners at American airports do not agree.
Privacy being invaded under the guise of the "patriot act" does not agree.
1.2 trillion dollar spent on "the war on terror" does not agree.
32,969 dead afghan civilians do not agree.
The increased polarization between the west and the middle east does not agree.
Muslims living honest lives in western countries being treated differently and more harshly do not agree.
Millions of dollars being spent on extra security does not agree.

There's probably a huge list one can come up with, but in my eyes, the terrorists have succeeded very well in spreading fear among people in the west. That's what terrorism is about. It's not about toppling governments or bringing freedom or justice to people. It's about spreading fear and chaos. And that's what they have succeeded in very well.
