Euro footy 2012

Post by Ryoki »

In this thread post your pre match predictions and post match whinging or glee. Or comment on how you don't give a fuck about footy, that's allowed as well.

I for one predict that the Dutchies will be annihilated by Denmark and Germany and exit the tournament in the first round. It'll be proper fun

I am putting money on you crazy dutch bastards to win the entire thing. I think that your attacking skills will smash through even an almost militant German defence.

England will get the quarter finals on lucky results.

Portugal will go out with a whimper and Ronaldo will get a right sad on

The Dutch team hasn't been doing great lately (ignoring the 5 - 0 victory against Ireland because that's just a 3rd rate team) but then again, they might shine on the tournament.

You have a lot of individual brilliance that you need a harness. Sneijder, Van Persie, Robben (grrrr I dislike him) van der Vaart, Huntelaar all going forwards. You have 3 quality keepers in Stekelenburg, Vorm and Krul. Your defence is your weak point with only 2 quality players in van der Wiel and Heitinga....

let's get some useful links up in this bitch

EURO 2012 GROUP SCHEDULE

group A looks like a joke. group B looks hardcore. group C looks potentially tasty. group D could either be a breeze or a minefield for england, depending on whether england can overcome their 'never beating sweden' jinx, and also on whether france actually play or just implode like in south africa, and also on whether england can lift themselves above a retarded donkey level of playing

still, it's always entertaining watching 22 millionaires kicking a ball around for an hour and a half :smirk:

Every four years a world championship, every four years a euro championship, but they made it so every two years there's something. And then there's the championsleague, which is every year. There's also the euro league or someshit, which is a tournament for teams that don't cut it in the championsleague. Every country also has a league of their own, winning that one is considered almost more prestigious for teams in some countries than winning other stuff. The premier league for instance.

Wtf why do i know all this, i don't even care about footy until the dutchies get far.

I used to hate it, but i discovered it's actually good fun when you watch it with mates, drinking beer and loudly shouting insults at the screen

I'm not a big football fan either, but watching worldcup or eurocup matches with a few friends is always good fun.

Wouldnt be surprised to see England drop out in the group stages, that could end up being a slippery group to get out of depending on how France get on, if not then in the following round against Italy/Spain/Coatia. Think Spain got this again, odds say theyll fuck up somewhere and get knocked out though, wouldnt mind seeing a Holland / Germany final :)

The English FA only have themselves to blame despite having the best crop of talent since I started watching footy, pissing away money on pointless managers before giving them the boot because they wont make John Terry captain and handing the reigns to an owl that wont be getting you qualified for the world cup :)

I dont get how those rankings are worked either, remember USA were ranked pretty high during the time of the last world cup ?, I reckon Wales could take em ;)

Well, here we go.
My predictions for tonight:

Poland v. Greece - 1-2
Russia v. Czech Republic - 3-1

Two entirely uneducated guesses but that's half the fun, right?

I reckon -

Poland 1 - 0 Greece (Winner gets bailed out by Germany)

Russia 2 - 0 Czechs

Not the most exciting of opening days tbh :/, crowd / atmosphere should be good though
