FFox 13
Re: FFox 13
Got mine on auto-update now that it does it in the background. Had to look to see what version it was up to. 13.0 apparently.

I'm really happy that they finally copied Chrome's frequently used sites start-up page.
Re: FFox 13
For some reason it doesn't show any pictures of the websites in the listing for me though.
Re: FFox 13
It will after you use them, it has to cache previews.

Re: FFox 13
Why complain about updates to software? Would you be any happier if they didn't do updates and left it to rot. I'm happy to see any progression in software that expands features, security or performance, particularly if it self-updates in the background.

No. I'd just rather not have to upgrade everything every 10 minutes just to stay "current" and - because of that - I'd also rather not have to see the moronic "holier than thou" attitudes of those who upgrade towards those who don't.obsidian wrote:Why complain about updates to software? I just find it funny how people get excited about this sorta thing...and they get excited week after week after nauseating week. It's a software upgrade, not a cure for cancer.

Who cares, the process is automated.GONNAFISTYA wrote:No. I'd just rather not have to upgrade everything every 10 minutes just to stay "current"obsidian wrote:Why complain about updates to software? Would you be any happier if they didn't do updates and left it to rot.
I see no one acting like that in this thread. And even if they did, it is kind of dumb to deprive your computer from security fixes, leaving it open for attack.GONNAFISTYA wrote:and - because of that - I'd also rather not have to see the moronic "holier than thou" attitudes of those who upgrade towards those who don't.
People are just glad that some much wanted and neat features are added to a product they use every single day. Aren't people allowed to be a tiny bit happy about that? Besides, you are greatly exaggerating. No one is trading their mother for a browser update.GONNAFISTYA wrote:I just find it funny how people get excited about this sorta thing...and they get excited week after week after nauseating week. Re: FFox 13
Dude the software gets upgraded pretty much all the time. How in the world is "version 13 of Firefox" big news?
You say "nobody is acting like that in this thread" and then immediately act like that in this thread.
Look man...I get that this forum is full of hopeless nerds that think the latest weekly update is the second coming of Christ. I really understand that. But do you honestly NOT get my point - because of ubiquitous and never-ending updates that happen automatically for the roughly 320487304802348 software packages installed on the average PC - that perhaps this thread and the billion other "new version of FF is out!" threads aren't really needed?
TBH, when FF announced their rapid release program I was actually happy to hear it because I thought it'd stop the endless "new version get it now!" threads. It appears I was 100% incorrect and the opposite would be true.....so I guess I was actually 200% incorrect.

some morons dont quite grasp the concept of continuous development.
like GKY said, theres no need for "ZOMG new version should I upgrade"-threads anymore.

Re: FFox 13
My Firefox was supposed to update automatically, but it didn't update to 13 until I went to Help/About, after reading this thread the other day. So much for automatic updates. Download was nearly 20 MB too.
Re: FFox 13
It said it was 12.something.SoM wrote:what did you update from? stone age?

Re: FFox 13
What do you mean what did I update from? I updated from version 12.something to version 13 by going to Help/About. There it said the current version of my Firefox was 12.something and it was "downloading updates" or something TO THIRTEEN! It said total file size 19.something MB.
Re: FFox 13
there was no 12.something.
it went from 12 to 13
my update like i said was around 1mb, took a second to download, where do you get the 20mb from?
even from 3.6 the download was like 7-8mb
