Rage - The Scorchers
Rage - The Scorchers
I absolutely love Rage and didn't see a thread about this new DLC. It's $4.99 and is an absolute steal. I love Rage. It is the best modern fps I've played in terms of gun play. It's hard for me to put it into exact words other than all of the guns are an absolute blast to shoot bad guys with - as a result the combat has a certain awesome fluidity - which is everything I could ever hope for out of an fps. The combat shotgun deserves specific mention, it's the best weapon in this generation's fps arsenal and pop rockets = win. The DLC brings new enemies, new dungeons to explore, and gives you access to the nailgun with different ammo types which drastically change the way the weapon is used. It's almost like 3 different weapons. To top it off, you can keep playing after the somewhat sudden ending to collect things you may have missed and there is a higher difficulty setting. There's also a new Mutant Bash TV, which is one of my favorite parts of the original. I don't understand all the hate the game received, I love it. And to get a DLC this late after the game was released is amazing.
I admittedly am replaying on easy just to get the obsessive compulsive achievement (cause fuck doing more races than I have to on the hardest difficulty) before going back to play on ultra nightmare cause I love the combat on that setting...haha I just hate doing the races on the hard difficulties.
I love this game. I'm curious what others think about the new DLC cause I'm having an absolute blast.

I was curios about that too

Re: Rage - The Scorchers
Love is a strong word, don't use it lightly. A videogame can't love you back.
Re: Rage - The Scorchers
I don't see how the absence of something in a virtual being enables them to love
I think you must have "love" confused with "fuck". You know when I say "fuck you"? It means I don't like you, nor love you.

Re: Rage - The Scorchers
Downloaded the DLC today but I have yet to play it.

It's been so long I barely remember how to play this damn game.
FYI, to start the DLC, head back to Wellspring and drive to Haggar's place. There's a door to the caves behind his garage.

The thing I love about Rage is the fluidity of the combat. And you can access the new content very easily. Combat shotgun for close range + wing sticks for medium range = mutant decapitation fun. You can access the DLC with an old save or start a new one and it's available very quickly.bitWISE wrote:It's been so long I barely remember how to play this damn game.

I'be played like 2/3rds of the DLC now. I'd say at 400msp ($5 I think?) it's good value. If you enjoyed Rage, then this is basically just more of the same. If you're brisk, then you're going to hate the textures.
I like the new nailgun, although it's primary ammo (shooting nails a la Q1's nailgun) sucks ass. It does too little damage. The 2nd ammo type, which is a bit like shooting harpoons I guess, is useful but disappointing in that I had hoped for it to work like Q3TA's nailgun. The rail slug ammo is pretty badass as it's basically a railgun (similar spiral coil effect included). Using iron sights with this ammo brings up some Xray scope that highlights enemies through walls so you can take em out while behind cover.

They programmed a wallhack into it?! How lame.Eraser wrote:The rail slug ammo is pretty badass as it's basically a railgun (similar spiral coil effect included). Again DTS being clueless
Re: Rage - The Scorchers
Took me about 4 hours to complete. The video poker and roulette games were a cool touch but seem so pointless at the same time.
Re: Rage - The Scorchers
I bought Rage but never played much. I bought and played the Scorchers add-on and now I'm hooked. Haven't played QL in a week. Can't say as I miss the verbal abuse.
Re: Rage - The Scorchers
Rage isn't as terrible as some may want you to believe. Do prepare for an abomination of an ending though.
