The Last of Us
We all playing this? Great game so far...you play a ruggedly handsome Josh Brolin with a beard in a post apocalyptic zombie world. Its by Naughty Dog (Uncharted Series).
Dan from Deadwood is in it too.

Re: The Last of Us
Played it over the weekend.
It's good, but its Uncharted heritage is obvious.
It feels like it should be more open, but is very linear.
The story, while delivered incredibly well, is quite predictable and is one of the more lazy zombie story tropes. Telltale's The Walking Dead is leagues ahead.
Technically it's very impressive what Naughty Dog have managed to wring from a console a the end of its life cycle. But I always get a bit sad that such a talented developer hamstrings themselves by sticking to one platform.
There's some cracking acting and the combat's pretty meaty.
If you have a PS3, you'd be doing yourself a disservice by not playing it.

Re: The Last of Us
My copy will be arriving any day now.
Re: The Last of Us
Indeed seems a bit style over substance, but maybe I'm wrong.
Shame it's PS3 exclusive, or I could check for myself.

Re: The Last of Us
I would buy a ps3 just to play the Uncharted series...but then again I have a lot of money and can afford more than one console.

Saw the ad on the televisual unit. Do like the look of.
Re: The Last of Us
I still haven't gotten around to playing Uncharted3 [which I had pre-ordered with much anticipation] :\
Hoping to get to this at some point. It's getting some pretty effusive reviews.

This game is AWESOME....hard difficulty feels about right..just like Uncharted.
Re: The Last of Us
Ordered the game....looking forward to it.
Re: The Last of Us
TBH, I’m getting a bit tired of all these zombie themed games, but after watching a few of the gameplay walkthroughs on YT, I have to say I’m very tempted now. The game clearly has beautiful graphics to go along with a deep single player experience with a great storyline. Obviously there was a lot hype surrounding this game, but It’s gotten lots of rave reviews with a current Metacritic score of 95 (quite a few perfect 10’s actually), so decisions, decisions…
Re: The Last of Us
I wouldn't say its much of a zombie themed game. I think you battle humans more than infected. The game is more about the human condition in a post apocalyptic setting than anything else.
You're spoiling the game for yourself if you're watching you-tubes of it.

Re: The Last of Us
It doesn't really feel like a zombie game at all. It is a stealth survival action game that is very driven by story. I'd compare it to MGS 4 before I compared it to a zombie game.
The infection is a biological plant-like organism that spreads rapidly and eventually takes over the host like a parasite. It doesn't do anything with reanimating dead flesh or making people hard to kill. The only zombie tie in is that the hosts become hell bent on attacking and converting everyone else. But it's hard to think of it as a zombie game when you can sneak up behind a "zombie" and choke them out.
You also spend at least half your time fighting other un-infected humans for one reason or another.
What they managed to do with the graphics is truly phenomenal. I love the dialog too. Definitely recommend it.

Re: The Last of Us
Finally went to pick up this game tonight. Haven't started it yet; it'll probably take me a few weeks to complete it

Re: The Last of Us
Been playing it for a few days now when time permits. Luckily this game doesn't rely on cheap scares, but man those clickers can fuck off. Especially when you're in a basement finding your way out
Although it's a dreary game at times, its narrative to escort Ellie is very enticing.
And yes, Ellie looks and sounds a lot like Ellen Page

Re: The Last of Us
I'm apparently terrible at being stealthy. I think I'm just too impatient. Molotovs and revolver are pretty choice weapons though. Especially for clickers since they will all run into the fire trying to figure out wtf just happened.
Re: The Last of Us
Amazing game. Great acting too.
Re: The Last of Us
I've finished the game. Now what?

Re: The Last of Us
Finally beat the game today. Played it on Hard, and with this type of game, I never wanted to rush through it and always liked to explore every area to find all the goodies, so it took ages to complete. Ammos and supplies were really scarce on Hard, but I always preferred to go for stealth if at all possible anyway, so it was never an issue. The only time I used the most powerful weapon in the game was when I needed to take out the very last dude in the game, and I did that only because I haven’t used it yet and just wanted to see what it was like; made for a good laugh anyway
No doubt this is an absolutely beautiful game (not just graphically) with a fantastic story and character development
I think the only gripes I have are the horrid controls/camera when diving under water and some of the standard conversations that didn’t always trigger. I came across quite a few bugs/glitches, too. I died suddenly a couple times when I got stuck and couldn’t move at places where you normally wouldn’t go.
The most interesting glitch I came across was when Ellie got stuck in midair at one of the checkpoints. I normally would just restart the episode when that happened, but this time I decided to keep on playing. I went all the way down past the next checkpoint, and Ellie was still stuck at the last checkpoint. In this next area, I noticed a bunch of bricks/bottles and heard sounds of the infected, but none were to be seen. I thought that was kinda strange. I then decided to check out one of the walkthroughs on YT and realized there were supposed to be a bunch of infected in that area! So I basically had free access to this huge area without all the infected hanging around
I was able to freely find where all the goodies were, including a bomb training manual on top of a rig. I then headed for the exit checkpoint thinking I got a free pass (by this point Ellie was stuck two checkpoints behind). But this exit checkpoint required me to boost Ellie up, and of course she was nowhere near me. The game then suddenly quit like I had died and restarted the episode with Ellie right beside me along with all the infected
Needless to say, I was not pleased...luckily it turned out OK in the end; I was able to replay that area still getting everything I wanted while killing only 4 of those “crying” Runners in the process.
I think I’ll go back and play the Plus mode; this time more normally and less stealth, find all the remaining collectibles I missed (I only found all the comics), and max out the weapons and skills. Should be fun!
