in Canada about 4 years ago they let you get this thing called a T.F.S.A.
tax free savings account
each person is allowed 5k$ a year, so if it is in stock and that stock turns into a 3 bag'er ,
that's 15k of total tax free profit for each person!

Also, if I were to buy stocks, I'd target stocks that do two things. Have derivatives and stocks that allow you to purchase a fraction of a full stock.
Use the derivatives + what you want to invest and use it to purchase more of those stocks. Over time, the derivatives will grow your portfolio much faster.
Also ensure you own the stock instead of owning it's streetname.
