WoW....

Post by Stoner »

Well after spending 55 Days of my life playing World of Warcraft I have decided to call it quits.

As much fun as I had at times I honestly regret playing the game, It basically took over my life.

It was my first MMO, In the start I was in awe at how sweet the game was and I was just having fun doing whatever, But that quickly turned into a race to make the best character and have the best gear. I knew how MMO's worked, The fact that they are designed to keep you playing as long as possible, But I just ignored it. Soon enough I become one of the most well equipped characters on the server.

No matter what sweet item I got it was never enough, I just needed more. No longer was I having fun, It was just an arms race to be the best.

The game effected my real life alot, Dragged down my grades in college. I cant tell you how many times I ignored my freinds calls just because id rather play the game than do anything with them. Or said fuck it I will study in the morning just to play WoW that night, Just to end up hitting the snooze bar in the morning so I only had a few hours to study for that final.

Hell it even dragged me away from posting here at Q3W.

Some people can play these games little bits at a time, I tried cutting back, But it was just all or nothing, You have to spend so much time to get anything rewarding done.

So hopefully I will get into a FPS or something, Something not so time consuming and addictive. Played some D3 ROE with that Doomer noob and it was a riot, So maybe ill start playing that some.

Maybe when I get some cash flow I will pickup Guild Wars, Doesnt seem to be as time consuming and the PvP looks to be more fun.

Boy was I a fool :dork:

Anyways I just had to get that off my chest, Havent made a rant in awhile, Been so consumed with that WoW gayme.

why didn't you post this garbage in the appropriate forum - that being rants and raves. the traffic is overflowing in there so i'm sure your 'rant' won't go the way of your sex life.

yea, that's the reason I don't play MMOs. plus the fact that I wouldn't have time for them in the first place

I had that with CoH for a while, also my first MMO. Managed to get it down to something like 8 hours a week now. I'm beginning to slowly get bored with it too, i might stop playing it altogether if i find something to take my mind of things (i was thinking about getting that Boiling point thing that reefsurfer has been pimping).

I just spent all of my free time playing it.

Only having two four hour classes every week leaves me with alot of free time.

About the only things I did besides go to school and play WoW was poker night with my buddies every Thursday and I would occasionally go riding(Dirtbikes) on a weekend day.

hmm....strong addiction it can be. I had that once with Warcraft II, I just couldn't stop playing. Luckily there's an end to that game.

Oh and the longest non-stop sitting with a game was Q3.....12 hours non-stop TDM and Rocket Arena, only the occasional run to the toilet and fridge to get a new beer. Q3 possessed my life for 2-3 years.

Warcraft 3 never caught on to me (luckily), I had to install it one year later to finish the SP. MP didn't really interest me, while I was still building my logfactory, other online peeps were sending waves of undead after wave. Not much fun in that.

you should see how Diablo 2 has effected me. I'm like a really bad alcoholic who can't admit I have a problem. The only reason I don't have as many hours in as soapboy is because I'm using all of the spare time that I have...
