Yes.

And Scott is an *Executive Producer. You might think it's just semantics, but there's a big difference in the film industry. In a good way, for this film...

I'm usually not ok with remakes or continuations of past classics, but this feels fine. The tone is spot on.

Is Ford just gonna sit back and rely on past projects to get him through his last years? First it was Force Awakens, now it's Blade Runner and Indiana Jones 5...

Denis Villeneuve is also quite the up-and-coming director, winning multiple awards for some of his earlier work. His latest film Arrivals is currently in theatres, staring Amy Adams and is getting pretty good reviews. So there's a good director at the helm of this Bladerunner sequel.

I'm staying cautiously optimistic about this movie. Bladerunner wrapped up rather nicely, leaving in question Deckard's nature as either human or replicant, and questioning whether replicants had been able to experience empathy (and dream of electronic unicorns) after all. The ambiguous ending to Bladerunner was part of the beauty of the story, one I'm not sure I would like answered with the resurfacing of Deckard in this new film. I'm sure it'll be an enjoyable film, I just hope it preserves all the legacy of the original.

I agree, but I think if it's done right, they'll be able to leave the mystery and question of Deckard's humanity or lack there of.

However, just seeing Deckard as an older man in the trailer, already ruins the question. Unless they have made replicants that can age? I don't remember...

Agreed, but I am looking forward to seeing more of the world it was set in now that visual effects can be on par with the story.

And don't get me wrong, the effects in BR looked pretty amazing for its time. The costumes and sets were phenomenal too, I just hope they don't take this in the Prometheus direction.

I think it's apparent from the original that the Tyrell Corporation had improved upon their replicant designs already (Rachel), and existing ones while having a designated shelf life did show signs of transcending their limitations (Batty saves Deckard = empathy).
