He is in for one big disappointment

Post by Eraser »

or death, more likely
Seeking to prove that a conspiracy of astronauts fabricated the shape of Earth, a California man intends to launch himself 1,800 feet (549 metres) high on Saturday in a rocket he built from scrap metal.

Assuming the 500-mph (805-kmh), mile-long (1.6 km-long) flight through the Mojave Desert does not kill him, Mike Hughes told the Associated Press, his journey into the atmosflat will mark the first phase of his ambitious flat-Earth space program.

Hughes's ultimate goal is a subsequent launch that puts him miles above Earth, where the 61-year-old limousine driver hopes to photograph proof of the disc we all live on.

[...]

He won't be able to test the rocket before he climbs inside and attempts to steam himself at 500 mph (805 kmh) across a mile (1.6 km) of desert air.

Isn't he afraid that he'll crash into the glass domed bubble that holds the sky up?

They are and they walk the streets as we do. They could be your neighbour.

I just had time to start reading......Mr Hughes is a 61-year-old limousine driver who has spent the past few years building a steam-powered rocket out of salvage parts in his garage in the United States :alert:

What, not the first flight :!:
This will actually be the second time he has constructed and launched a rocket.

In 2014 he travelled nearly 420m and collapsed after that landing — the G-forces taking a toll — and needed three days to recover. time he's done this

Picking up a man by his arms and legs like that seems like a thoroughly well thought through action after an impact like this.

Indeed.
But people are also saying he isn't a flat earther at all but couldn't find anyone to finance his rocket and simply tried to lure flat earthers int paying for it.

I do love how they reference to the atmosphere as the atmosflat.

Well, he won't be dying today
Hughes told the Washington Post, Big Daddy Government has thrown a few obstacles in his way. Per the Post, the Bureau of Land Management has confirmed it had no record of giving Hughes “verbal permission” to hold the rocket launch on public lands as he had previously claimed, meaning that the rocketeer has decided to delay the launch date and move the location “three miles down the road.”

Well, up to 1875 feet, which is... well... I guess a lot for a steam powered rocket

I am still having a problem believing it is steam powered but then I watch videos of those aircraft carrier catapults. He is launched by similar I suppose

You gotta hand it to him, at least he's trying to prove his theory.
