Banksy troll

Post by Eraser »

This is great. A piece of artwork by Banksy was auctioned off at Sotheby's yesterday. Right after it was sold for a million pound the piece actually shredded itself into strips of paper.

Great way to troll these people, although the art community now insists that the artwork has actually gone up in value because this was Banksy's intent all along and thus part of the artwork and no one has really done something like this before.

Yeah, whatever, I just enjoy seeing people's panicked response ehrn they see a million pound piece of art shredded to bits :D

Isn't buying/selling art tax free or something? I seem to remember someone telling me people invest in wine for the same reason :tard:

Yeah, rich people use it as a way to dodge taxes. The fact that this only went up in price is totally predictable. The art world is a joke.

Some things are edgy about this action.
Southeby's thouroughly check items before they go into auction. To prevent counterfeits for example. They should have seen the slit in the frame when doing their check-ups which should have made them open the frame and find the mechanism.
Also, the picture was the last to go at this auction and it hung on a wall during the auction. Which is unusual cause normally paintings in frames are put on an easel for auctions.

So, to me Southeby's are lying saying they didn't know about it.
And @Banksy boycotting the art-market: well, you just played a nice PR-stunt together with them.

There is new real street art everyday out there that was not done by someone doing such a PR-stunt.
