One thing that doesn't check out in this article is that Mr Cervantes got symptoms while riding back from the rally. As far as I know, you won't get symptoms the day you've been infected (or at least, it's highly unlikely. On average it's about 5 days I believe, with 99% getting symptoms within 10 days)

It's a far safer assumption that he was infected before the rally took place, and took his infected ass into a mass gathering of people.

Edit: oh, apparently the sturgis rally is a week long event? In that case, it's very possible he got it there.
