Do you wish it were still 1999?

Post by Zerofactor »

It's been well over 20 years since I registered here, and as I approach the age of 40 (FORTY!) I find myself missing the old-net a whole lot. Missing pretty much everything about it. Hyper-active forums where thoughtful (or maybe even not so thoughtful) conversation took place, the original AOL Instant Messenger (even though I'm using a bootleg open-sourced version of it today in 2025), GeoCities, webrings, maybe sometimes even MySpace.

I dunno dudes, I just think the current internet kinda sucks ass

After yesterday, I'm pretty sure most people wish it were still 1999

I'll be 50 in two months, I understand that nostalgic feeling of the old days and missing the old net. Hard to believe that this place has been around for almost half that time. Simpler times back in the day...

tnf, as pointed out in the "What is new in your world" thread, I now work with people younger than this forum >:E

And Whiskey, I think Zerofactor is referring to Tangerine Palpatine's* tariffs.

*I can't take credit for that nickname BTW, but I will happily steal it.

Awesome! I'm back in the best physical shape I've been in since my 20s but I can't escape all the joint pain and lingering injuries from back in the day. So I'll be 50, feel 70, but in what would be considered good condition for someone in their 30s. Combo of all three. :D
