Help me choose a TFT monitor please

Post by DiscoDave »

I'm thinking about making the jump to TFT seeing as my current CRT monitors aren't behaving very well.

I've picked two out so far:

http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/products ... _uid=55183

and

http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/products ... _uid=83914

The first one has a slightly longer response time but is DVI input. Whereas the second one is 8ms respone but is VGA input. Which do you reccomend, is DVI worth it?

Failing those two, here is a list:

Thanks

Wait for an OLED screen. What were the figures again, 7000x faster than CRT and something like 1/2 the power consumption of LCD, twice as vibrant, and half the price?

^ I'm planning on getting that one, it won a shootout of about 10 other TFTs.

Explain?

I know OLEDs have a problem with longevity right now, but so did Plasma back in 2000. OLEDs should be out by Q3 2006 in the US, and I think it's worth the wait.

"In May 2005 Cambridge Display Technology announced a blue OLED with a lifetime of over 100,000 hours." That's 11 years of life for a monitor that could roll up and fit in a tube if you wanted it to... The perfect mobile screen.

It's all about the Dell 2005FPW.
You can find deals every few weeks for under $400. Which is incredible for a 20" LCD. Plus it has all kinds of fun features. :)

16ms response time? Count me out. I've seen the 8ms TFTs in action and they still lag.

Bullshit.

My 17" NEC has a 16ms response and you'd be challenged to find any ghosting or lag.

You talk out your ass too much. 16ms or less is fine for gaming in a 17".

The response time isn't everything.

You could have a 8ms LCD and a 16ms LCD and notice more ghosting on the 8ms one. Read a review of a specific monitor or go to a store and see it yourself if you really want to know if there's ghosting.
