RAID Help

Post by Kills On Site »

At my dad's office I put two 80GB Maxtor HDDs and put them in RAID 1. I put them on the SATA RAID of the ABit IC7-G. Recently then drives ahve been conflicting and falling apart, messages and all are saying incomplete and conflicts and whatnot. I tried deleteling and recreating the array. Helped for a boot or two. I then decided to zero fill both drives and same shit is happening again. One time the boot up screen showed one HDD as being a 120GB HDD and the other as an 80GB HDD. Like I said both drives are 80GB. Can anyone provide some help on the issue?

Sounds like you don't have a stable RAID array.

Update BIOS/Drivers

Check drive compatibility

Get a disk utility and check the drives.

Well since it is my dad's office and I only can work after the office is closed or on weekends I cannot test anything until this weekend prolly. I will most definatly update the BIOS. I will use Maxtor's Powmax to throughly check each drive. How would I go about checking the drive compatibility?

The RAID coinfiguration has been running for on the computer since it was built back in May of 2004. Another computer with the same mobo and RAID is also running with the only difference of it has a slightly faster processor and the core is Northwood instead of Prescott. Also both computers have the Western Digital 36GB Raptors as the boot drives and the RAID arrays are used as backups using Norton Ghost.

I don't know if any of this will help to anyone, but it can't hurt I assume.
