no sound... at all.

Post by Wulfi359 »

i love Q3 but it hates my computer. i have a Quicksilver with a 1GHz processor and a 1GB of RAM.

anyhow, i all of a sudden had a problem with my game it would shut down right before the id logo animation so i reinstall the G4 version. now the game runs but with absolutely no sound.

i checked out the FAQ there's nothing there about no sound just "fast" sound.

as always any help... :)

check the q3config.cfg file in both your ~/Library/Application Support/Quake3/baseq3 folder and your /Applications/Quake3/baseq3 folder for the command "s_initsound", and make sure the value for this command is 1 instead of 0. If this is the case, make sure s_volume is not 0. Finally, check your Audio/MIDI setup application in the Utilities folder and make sure that all volumes are up, the proper audio output is selected, and that the audio format is set to 16-bit, 44100hz.

thanks Canis.

my s_initsound is set to "1". question, i thought the q3config only resided in the ~/Library/Application Support/Quake3/baseq3 ??

also, in my Audio Midi set up, i use an iMic USB input device. is this the correct set up?

wow. i figured it out. i recently installed Audacity, the thought came to mind that maybe that was the culprit. so i trashed everything for Audacity and viola. Quake3 with sound.
