tv question

I have a DivX/DVD player and its connected to my HDTV via an S-video cable. I watch DVD's on my home theater system, so it is connected to the HDTV by a nice set of fat component cables. The question is, is it worth it to get a set of component cables for the DivX player even though I don't watch DVD's on it?

I guess that's just a matter of choice that you have to make. You know what you're going to use it for and you're the only one that is going to recognize the quaility so what ever you think bud.

Well I was wondering if there is going to be a difference in quality if I'm only watching DivX and not DVD movies on it.

It depends on three things.

1. Are the DivX movies you've recorded HD?
2. Does your DivX/DVD player support high resolutions?
3. Do you have an upconverter?

1. Yes, I watch HDTV rip series
2. Dunno
3. No, but the player has a component out and progressive scan.

Good Lord the difference is astonishing! Its really night-and-day. Watching HDTV rips I can now see what HDTV is really about. I can feel the colors, each scene makes me tingle. Everything is so amazingly sharp, the colors are extremely vivid and not overblown like they were with the S-video cable. God damn I've been missing out with that stupid piece of trash cable, I should've gotten a component wire as soon as I got the DivX player.
