For the past six months, I've been on a wireless network at the place I live. Three other guys were living here, too, but they all moved out for the summer. I stayed.
Because being on a wireless network causes momentary lag lockups when playing online games, I figured for the remainder of the summer I'd just move the cable modem in my room and have the wireless router there too so that whoever came over (this happens often) could be on the network wirelessly.
Well, I moved the cable modem into my room and used my tv cable to connect to it, and everything was fine. But then I brought in the wireless router.
I hooked the cable modem to the router. Then I hooked the router into my pc. And of course I restarted. The modem still indicates that there is a pc linkup and also internet activity. And the router is saying that it's plugged into my cable modem.
Yet, I'm not getting internet access. And the friend that's over can't get on the network wirelessly either. I'm really not for sure what's going on. I also want to add that I think I might have screwed things up even more by resetting the router.
I know this is a very simple problem and I'm probably overlooking something really dumb, but I'm new to the wireless thing. Can anyone shed some light on the situation?
