What game cost you the least.

Post by Guest »

This is kinda like the other thread but with a different twist. I think it'd be funny to actualy figure out what gaming costs you on an hourly basis per game. Because you see a game might be more expensive, but if you play that game for a thousand hours and it cost you 80$ you got a game that basicly costs you 0.08$ an hour which is really pretty cheap. However if you got a game that costs you 30 dollars and you only play it 3 hours and toss it aside the game actualy cost you 10 dollars an hour which is kinda steep. So... What game do you think cost you the least?

For me... I'd have to say it's gonna be an old game called Quake 3. There is no other game I've ever played for such a long period of time, even today if I had a computer at home I'd be playing Quake 3. I can't even estimate the hours I've spent on this game although I'd love to find out. I figure I've probably spent a total of 3000 hours playing quake 3. I don't pluck that figure lightly either, I figure the first 6 months the game was out I probably played about 6 hours a day on average. It's all I did back then. So that's about 1440 hours and that's just the first 6 months. I slowed down a lot at that point but had spurts here and there ever since where I'll play everyday for weeks or months then stop.

So all in all the game was about 89$ if I remember so it cost me about 0.03$ an hour to play quake 3. :p

if you put it that way.....for me, q3 costed the much (hardware wise, since I bought a whole new system for it just to be able to play it) and the least in the long run....

hmmm..it took more of my soul then I expected.

Heh. Quake 1, no question. Couldn't buy it when it came out because of age restrictions and played it for what must have been 5 years straight. Finally bought it for about 10 quid when I was able to.

Hard to say really.. WoW has cost me 200 bucks thus far, but ive easily put 40 days game time in with plenty more to go.. and HL2 ive put 300 into it and mods easy for 50 bucks..

It curdled, and then I couldn't drink it. So I mixed it with some water, and it was alright again.

I am now sick.

I spent $7 on the Wheel of Time game. Sadly I think I only spent a couple of hours playing it.

Tribes 2 was probably the most expensive game I bought if we're going off of an hourly basis. Let's see... $50 game, played for 5 minutes... wow, the game is worth $600/hour.

Least expensive is quake3 by far. I've probably put over 2000 hours into the game over the past 4 years. $40 game/1000 = 2 cents an hour. Quite a nice deal.

Most play for least money would probably be Doom or Hexen. I still play both and have been playing them for at least 10 years.

Recently picked up a copy of Quake II for 3.50 euri. Not a bad deal, I should think. Must've played it for at least 15 hours now so that makes 0.23 ec/h.

Quake II or Quake III Arena.
Yeah, Q3, while I posted it as the game I spend most on. But the amount of hours I put into that game more than make up for it.

Q3. Then Delta Force and now Half-Life 2. But HL2 is catching up fast =) On DF at least. Will take a few years to beat Q3 =)

lol same here (as mjrpes). I hated it. Not only did I not like the gameplay, the bugs were awful as well.

Sensible Soccer/ Sensible Worold of Soccer

Wasted so many hours of my life on that, I'll never come close to playing a game so much ever again. I haven't played it for a few years and I'll still beat practically anyone at it.

How do you know how much you've played it? Did you keep track yourself or is the 730 hours just some random number you came up with?
