Actually, he lost a lot of weight sometime in the last decade. Remember, the last time we saw him on screen in a major role was 1994.

Since then, he had a child (!!!) and dropped the weight.

People die all the time, just because he was in star trek?

Yes, just because he was in Star Trek and was a nice guy. Television shows connect people with each other and the characters in the show. Iconic shows like Star Trek (It was on for forty years... Hello?) connect the fans with the people.

James Doohan helped start one of the biggest pop culture phenomena of the last 100 years.

It's amazing he lived so long when you consider he wore a red shirt on ST.

 You have a point there. The second movie came along and they slapped Spock in a red outfit, and look what happened to him.

Look at you talking so passionately about it, what a nerd. :icon19:

What other TV shows have been on that long? Gunsmoke was pretty close, right?

Grow up. Everyone has seen Star Trek. If that weren't true, that battle in The Cable Guy wouldn't have been enjoyed in unanimity. Stupid alts.

Doohan was born in B.C., raised in Sarnia and took part in the Canadian invasion of Normandy before he took up acting.
