Filling in host and domain name when I don't have one

Post by 4g3nt_Smith »

I have my Linksys WRT54G set up to not do DHCP (the NAT stuff kept changing if and I had to change every port forward every time the IP's changed) and everything worked fine until I had to use an ME machine on the network. This is wired, and I filled in the IP I want it to have, the gateway, and tried the DNS, but it won't work unless I fill out the host and domain name. I didn't have to do this on any other machines (XP Home/Pro, and OS X) and the router makes no mention of what it should be set as.

it's an arbitrary thing, just set the hostname to make it happy
