Ok there's some problem with my game...
1) I use The All Seeing Eyes and there are many servers listed... But when I click on one of it, Quake 3 is launched but there's a count (AWAITING CONNECTION...) that's infinte...
2) If i don't use that program, and open the game clicking on the MULTIPLAYER option, there are a list of server, but they're all english and in everyone (no one excluded) there are many cheats active
3) How can I know if in a server there are in use some cheats ???
Thankz I hope that you could answer soon...
Byeu

Hmm, I'm not aware of cheats activated on servers unless they're trick jumping servers. Forget the ingame multiplayer option and just use all seeing eye because ideally you want to choose servers where you have a decent low ping, and you can see that in all seeing eye.
When it says awaiting connection, does it also say underneath it
' server use protocol version.. ' , with a number like 67 or 68? Because you can't get onto servers if you're using the wrong version/update. The latest update was 68, also known as point release 1.32. If you don't have that, get it here:
ftp://ftp.idsoftware.com/idstuff/quake3 ... se_132.exe
1.32 has something called punkbuster built in which is an anti-cheat program to stop players using the kind of nasty cheats that you might find them bringing into servers using earlier, non punkbuster point releases. You'll also need this:
http://www.evenbalance.com/downloads/pbweb.exe
Install the 1.32 point release, and then put the pbweb.exe into your 'pb' folder which you'll find is inside your main quake 3 arena folder. Then double click on the pbweb.exe as this is needed for punkbuster to update you before you can play on a server. Other than that, I'm not sure why you're getting awaiting connection unless it's to do with a firewall or something.

Try the following:Tripleleon wrote: 1) I use The All Seeing Eyes and there are many servers listed... But when I click on one of it, Quake 3 is launched but there's a count (AWAITING CONNECTION...) that's infinte...
- - While you are connecting, open up the console (to open the console press the tilde key "~" on your keyboard), are there any error messages?
- Make sure a firewall is not blocking it, (better yet turn it off IF you have a hardware based one).
- This problem seems to afflict some users behind routers. If you have a router try the following:- 1. Try playing online without the router to see if that works.
2. If the router is using DCHP, try setting your computer to a static IP.
3. Right-click on the Quake III shortcut you use to start the game and select Properties. In the Target field you'll see a line like "C:\Program Files\Quake III Arena\quake3.exe", add the Quake III net_port command to specify a unique communication port for each system. The complete field should look like this:
"C:\Program Files\Quake III Arena\quake3.exe" +set net_port 27660
4. Forward ports 27960 and 27660.
(Type it in, do not cut and paste)
127.0.0.1 authorize.quake3arena.com
- Open the console while you are trying to connect to the server by pressing the tilde key ("~") on your keyboard and type "/timescale 200". This will allow you to attempt to connect to a server at a faster rate. - 1. Try playing online without the router to see if that works.
Make sure your game is up-to-date with the latest patch, Point Release 1.32. This update includes up-to-date game fixes as well as PunkBuster, Anti-Cheat software used to prevent online cheating.Tripleleon wrote:2) If i don't use that program, and open the game clicking on the MULTIPLAYER option, there are a list of server, but they're all english and in everyone (no one excluded) there are many cheats active
In order to join PunkBuster enabled servers you must type "/pb_cl_enable" in the console (press the tilde key: ~ on your keyboard to open the console while in-game). In addition, you should enter "/pb_sleep 500" and "/pb_system 1" in the console in order to reduce any slowdown or stuttering due to PunkBuster's scanning.
Afterwords, you should download PBWEB.exe, which will allow you to manually update PunkBuster. Place the file in your "Quake III Arena\pb" directory and launch the executable. It will take a few minutes for it to update, be patient.
In All-Seeing Eye, in the left pane, under "[+] Quake III Arena" tree, there are filters that allow you to filter out servers that have PunkBuster disabled as well as any servers not running Point Release 1.32. See the screenshot below.

By joining PunkBuster-enabled servers you can be assured most if not all public released cheats are detected. While PB is not 100% cheat-proof (especially in respects to privately made and distributed hacks), it does an adequate job of preventing and deterring people from using them. If you are really suspicious of someone, spectate them, and if after watching him you are still convinced they are cheating, record a demo (see the FAQ on how to record a demo). My esteemed collegaues and I can help you to evaluate whether the accused is truly cheating and if-needed, we can pursue additional measures to ensure that player is banned from as much servers as possible.Tripleleon wrote: 3) How can I know if in a server there are in use some cheats ???

I have the couldn't load default.cfg message too. I just never bothered with it and it hasn't bothered me so we're both just dandy.Tripleleon wrote:THIS IS A PERSECUTION !!! And on the p.s. might be skill might be cheats. get some experience under your belt before judging.
Do you have the full retail version of Quake III Arena?Tripleleon wrote:But when I open a server, into the console appear "couldn't load default.cfg" ........ MY GAME IS CURSED !!!
If you try to run Quake III Arena and receive the error message, "Couldn't Load default.cfg", the game is basically telling you that it can not find the \baseq3 directory that is part of the original Quake III Arena. Most often this message appears when you have a minimum install of Quake III Arena, and then attempt to run either game without the Quake III Arena CD in the CD-ROM drive.
There are three possible solutions to this problem:
- Quake III Arena uses data that is contained in the \baseq3 directory of Quake III Arena. If you are using a minimum install of Quake III Arena, you must have the Q3A CD in your CD-ROM drive when playing Q3A.
- Simply copy the pak0.pk3 from your Q3A CD to the "Quake III Arena\baseq3" folder.
- Uninstall the game, delete the game folder and then reinstall the game to the default directory. After reinstalling to the default directory, make sure that you've deleted any shortcuts from the previous installation, since this will still cause problems when you try to launch the game.
The technique you just described is called strafe jumping. Using this technique allows you to increase ones speed past the intended theoretical physics by making use of a flaw inherent in a rounding error in the movement code. Simply put, it is a method of increasing a player's jumping ability and speed. What it basically is, is running, jumping, and pressing strafe all at the same time. Please check the FAQ and this link for more in-depth information on the art of strafe jumping.Tripleleon wrote:Anyway if somebody in the arena jumps like he's flying, kills the other character with ONLY one shot ecc ecc ecc...... AFAIK, there are no hacks that alter the damage of weapons under PR 1.32 pure servers w/ PB enabled. It is more likely that you are being outclassed by your opponents. Instead of accusing the better player as a cheat, take the loss in stride and complement your opponent on a well played game. Do not respond to a loss with low rate personal attacks, complaining, cheat accusations, etc.

Ok let's make things clearly...
1) When I say "like their flying" I don't mean strafe jump cause I know what it is... When I say that, I mean that !!! The charachter of some players flyes in the arena... But if you say "that are strafe jumps".... ok I believe you...
2) The one shot killing isn't real in some servers where I played... I mean many times I did a head shot with the rifle, but the charachter of the other person just took the shoot and smiling gone away... Or with the missile launcher, I shoot a missilee right into the head of the enemy, and it continues playing like nothing was happened... I think there are SO MUCH CHEATS, but , I repeat, if you say "that are skills", again, I believe you...
3) Probably it's cause I removed from my pc last week the baseq3 folder... Now I try to install again the game, and then I will tell ya how's it going...
Thankz for all peeps !

Perhaps what you are talking about is the Flight Power-Up . Flight is an extremely rare power-up that shows up in a mere handful of maps. While it is effective, it allows you to fly around. You just hit forward and look around to fly. When it is found, it is usually for a purpose such as getting to a place in the map you can't without it.Tripleleon wrote:Ok let's make things clearly...

There also exists a grapple hook which enables people to fire a "hook" at a wall where it'll latch itself onto and pull the player towards that point allowing the player to reach previously unreachable areas or move great distances at high speed.

There are jumppads which allow players to reach different areas of a map.

There is rocket jumping which allows you to increase the height of your jump.

You must elaborate on what you are trying to describe. Apart from the Flight power-up, I can think of no way a player can "fly" across the map under normal circumstances.
To use the grapple hook, first it must be enabled on the server and you must bind a key or button to use it. In baseq3 the command would be as follows: "/bind x weapon 10". In OSP it would be "/bind x +button5". A good idea is to put this in your config: /bind x "weapon 10; +button5" that way, either way you'll have it set. Just replace the "x" with any key or button of your choice.
There are no headshots in Q3, a direct hit will do the same damage regardless of where it hits. You will hear a beep signifying that your shot has hit. A newly spawned player with 125 health or a player with a little bit of armor can easily survive a direct hit with a rocket (100 damage) or rail (100 damage).Tripleleon wrote:2) I mean many times I did a head shot with the rifle, but the charachter of the other person just took the shoot and smiling gone away... This is not Counter-Strike. Aiming in Quake is simple - point and shoot. There are no dynamic sprays and movement does not affect your spray. With instant hit weapons such as the gauntlet, machine gun, shotgun, lightning gun and rail gun, simply aim directly at your opponent and fire. Weapons like the rocket launcher, grenade launcher, plasma gun, and BFG require a bit more practice to master, as they require you to lead your target or shoot on the nearby ground in order to inflict splash damage (damage taken by players or objects in the area surrounding a point of weapon impact, such as the resulting explosion from a rocket).
