Naomi Klein speech on Iraq elections

Post by prince1000 »

Cultural analyst, Naomi Klein is perhaps one of the most perceptive writers and thinkers of the global justice movement. The author of two books, No Logo and Fences and Windows, Klein's dispatches are read internationally, appearing in the Nation Magazine, the London Guardian, and Toronto Globe and Mail. On Feb. 16, 2005 at UC Santa Cruz, Naomi Klein presented her talk, "War and Fleece: Economic Shock Therapy in Iraq," in which she also shared her analysis of the January 30 Iraq election. Self-contained for broadcast: 59:37

I haven't read either. afaik F&W is about globalization. I believe she just made a movie with Avi Lewis about the true democratization of the Argentinian economy.

Well, ok, if you're into Jewish girls.

No Logo was a good piece of work. Her critique of branding fits quite nicely into the larger picture of the depoliticisation and atomisation of western society.

So there.

I wrote an article called Pro Logo once, it was about how most poor people have really strange brandperception.

That'd be cool. I have a hard enough time with German, and I studied that for 3 years. Dutch would be like trying to read the Magna Carta for me. :icon25:

Pfft, I'd be just as interested in Tom Clancy's opinion of the Iraqi elections, i.e. not at all
