What do you guys think of a program called Window Washer?

I was told it is good for cleaning up your computer from all the Internet stuff.

Is it a junk program or any good?

We'll first and foremost, i know nothing of this program, i will put that out right now..

but considering its comming From Webroot, i would say its at the VERY LEAST a decent.

in all reality, the best thing that you can do is hit up google and go to sites like Amazon and shit that have user Review's and Take a look.. if you are Decently impressed, give the trail a go ( i'm sure they have a trial ) and if its all good.. go get the Full virsion. :)

If you need a program like "Window Washer", you need to do a clean install. There's no excuse for a pc full of spyware and crap. Do a little reading about how to prevent the risk of spyware, malware and viruses from infecting your system THEN do that clean install.

you're putting a band-aid on a severed limb.

You fools, windows washer cleans temporary files from apps and browsers, and anywhere else (if you set it to find .log files and so fourth). It has nothing to do with spywarez0rs. :p

It's a good app, but there is also a good freeware alternative, called Crap Cleaner, google it.

temp files can be handled manually. why do some of you knuckleheads make things so difficult for yourselves?

Because people seem to have some kind of fascination with running as many shite utility apps as they can possibly cram onto their systems.

Manually is easier than starting an app, hitting a button, and sitting back and watching the cleaning bar go?

This is why I asked. I don't want programs installed unless they are needed. I haven't installed it and won't.

Thanks for all the help.

I find CCleaner to be a great cleaning application. No bullshit and a simple interface.

if you had half of a peanut in your cranial turret, you wouldn't have a problem. or perhaps you could muster enough brain power to run a .bat file? oh wait, that won't add sh*t to the registry!!!! forget it!

Settle down jug. You got it wrong in the first instance when you started rattling about spyware and malware and virii without understanding what these programs do.

Cleaner apps like this are handy. 1 button to get rid of temp internet files, temp files, firefox history, windows recent files, run history, recycle bin, search assistant, index.dat, or many other tracking items.

Certainly helps to wipe the porn + banking history from my PC before anyone else uses it.

sure, i suppose if you live at mom's place and share the pc or perhaps you're afraid your g/f would dump you because you need to surf porn since she's not good enough in the sack, something like that could be handy.

So instead of admitting a simple mistake you'll just fall back to some personal insults to try and cover up?

nothing.

So far, the only (accurate) rebuttal to the idea of these programs I've seen you make is that a .bat file would be simpler.

Then I listed some of the things one of these will do, which shows that a bat file to do the same thing would be more complex.

To which you have not yet responded, except via insults.

no, what i'm saying is you only need something like that app if you have something to hide. if you DO have something to hide, then by all means, get to downloading.

Ok, I'll accept that supposal. But you seemed to focus on the 'porn' part of my statement with some satisfaction, don't forget:
Banking
Email
Personal photos
Documents
and that's just my personal list of stuff.

On top of that, clearing out these items is at least as significant as keeping your registry clean (which coincedentally, CCleaner also does for you on) when it comes to keeping the Pc running smoothly. You seemed to rate that quite highly in your third post.

nah, porn was just poking fun, lighten up.

banking? those are temp files.

the rest of those don't fall under something you need to worry about unless you've, again, got something to hide.

ah, you mention registry....i do that by hand, but a registry cleaner is probably the only program i would use if i was your every day joe.

some pics of ex girlfriends are definitely worth hiding :D

Truecrypt is pretty good for privacy needs though.
