Ld_ptm1 Beta1

Post by Infernis »

A developer could have made a game in the time it took us to make this PTM project. But, unlike many other similiar projects, this one did get finished.

We're currently at Beta1. The layout/geometery is final. However we would like feedback regarding anything else.

Known issue:

Bots are really stupid. I'm going to try and fix that in the next beta.

Download link here.

ooooooo purdy

I wish I could download this map but as fate would have it I'm currently connected through an extremely strict firewall that I have no control over.

I agree with Stjartmunnen as best part. Twisted his part, although impressive, lacks the details that Mummy or Sum their parts have.

Wow, it's actually good! Seems like the layout would work for CPM TDM even. And the visuals are reasonably consistent throughout. I'm impressed. Only thing I noticed in running through it was that there were a bunch of very tight doorways you'd run into when bunny'ing around.

This strikes me as kind of an "art map", if I can call it that. It's not so much built for gameplay (nothing is clipped, etc).. But it's gorgeous... I surprised that such a good looking map came from many people working together.

The huge artistic scale of the map really blows me away, and the style makes me miss Quake II. Nice work, guys!

Thanks a lot guys.

I take it there were no apparent graphical glitches? No sparklies or that kinda thing?

I'll release a new version with proper bot support and then perhaps we could get some feedback on actual gameplay. Besides, who knows, maybe it will play great as a TDM map.

did any updates to this map ever happen?

I've been playing some RA3 TDM on this map lately, and it's good but could use a little tuning in some spots--a lot of the smaller doorways are too tight, a lot of the fancier geometric detail could stand to be clipped off a little more liberally, etc--but overall it is a very fun map.

As far as standout issues go: that one spawn point where you spawn in the floor fuckin sucks, and way too many of the jumppads are aligned such that you hit your head on the ceiling instead of making it up to your intended destination.

Also, one guy managed to get outside the world in Twisted's area.

Unless one of the other mappers involved takes up the baton, things might be a little quiet because Infernis is taking some time off from the mapping scene.

This is definitely the best map that's ever been made for q3 with that texture pack.If you guys can get the bot's to travel the whole map and pick up all the shit...this map will own all. Nice to see something coming out that has talent. Scene has been seeming quiet. shhh
