Image tearing in Quake3

Just installed Q3 again and for some reason, I've been experiencing a substantial amount of image tearing in Q3. Doesn't seem to happen with any other game (D3, FarCry, HL2), just Q3 and Q3 Mods. Haven't tested out other Q3-engine games yet, though. Running the game at 1024x768 resolution, graphics ...

Sorry about the shader manual. I've been working on the other sections. Here's the shader and screenshot taken from ydnar's fur test map. You should be able to figure the rest out. http://members.lycos.co.uk/quakeroats/q3wtemp/05030901.jpg // ---------------------------------------------------------...

Updated Multiplant Pack to version 2.3 Download here Remade some of the tallpalm prefab objects into ASE models. Todd probably initially created those as prefabs since MD3s had a maximum bounding box of 512x512 units. Those palm models were taller than that so he modeled them as prefabs. I rebuilt t...

Thanks Kat, never noticed that either. Would be better for texture memory loading.

I'll see what I can do.

Sorry Kat, updated just 1 more time, commented out rgbGen exactVertex and added rgbGen vertex + alphaGen const.

Hopefully this'll be the final.

Cool! Thanks ydnar.

But what does rgbGen exactVertex do exactly?

And why are there slight differences between using rgbGen exactVertex and when using rgbGen vertex + alphaGen const?

Actually, the plant models are affected by the alphaMod volume brushes because models use rgbGen vertex (and alphaMod volume uses vertex values to determine alpha). I tried commenting out this line and the models no longer have missing sections out of them. However, without rgbGen vertex the plant m...

If you check the other thread, download the newly updated multiplant pack. It'll at least fix that missing texture problem you're having. I haven't had much luck fixing your problem on my end either. I tried removing the alphaMod volume brushes from the map and recompiled. The plant models seem to w...

Hi Kat, Missing some of the editor shaders... your alphaMod volume shaders and skip shader. It seems as if you're not keeping them in the traditional textures/common directory, I assume your alphaMod shaders are in textures/kat1024? Anyhow, please send me (or post) your alphaMod shader and skip shad...

Not sure, but you are using an older version of Gtkradiant.

1.4.0 is the version that I use for Q3 editing. Or you can try the 1.5.0 beta.

Just install it. It backs up your SP1 settings and installs. Pretty simple.

Nothing... SP2 feels exactly the same as SP1. The only difference is the built in Firewall and security center. You shouldn't disable this but if you want, it's in Control Panel.

Weird... you can send the map to meridanox (a-t) g m a i l (d-o-t) c o m.

What version of Q3Map2 are you using? Compile switches?

I'm also getting 1 broken shader on one of the plant models on the very top floor. Are you getting that too?

Should... they're just shaders assigned to a surface.

Good seeing all the old faces around again... ydnar, rgoer, kat, etc.

Do you mean that there are some missing leaves on some of the plants that you see in the editor but not in game? A little background: Todd G. built a single model and textured them differently to give some variety to the models. I think there's a couple that had fewer leaves than the rest of the mod...

Great work! Looks almost like D3 stencil shadows.

I suppose you could reverse the effect and make fake light as well - like a swinging lantern.
