Re: Do you guys here print out source codes?

I sometimes print code, so I can read it away from the computer, on the couch or something. It's like it's easier to focus when it's just me and a piece of paper, no noisy fans or distractions. It also allows you to see more of the code at the same time. A few months back I debugged a sorting routin...

is just swapping out the motherboard safe?

I'm about to replace my KT7 (Via KT133) with a ECS K75SA (SiS735). Old stuff, I know.

Is it safe to just turn off the pc, replace the mobo, and then boot? Or will there be some kind of driver conflict if I do that? I'm running winxp SP2.

A function prototype is just the function header without the body. Just put this line in g_local.h, at the end is fine. Note the semicolon at the end: void trap_SendServerCommandWrapper( int clientNum, const char *text ); Whenever you call a function that's defined in another file, the compiler look...

I bought an a4tech mouse. And windows uses a microsoft driver for it. But I can't use the software that comes with the mouse, because it just replaces logitech's mouseware when I install it. No big deal, though.

Thanks. I just tried it, with an old, wired logitech mouse I had.

I hope there won't be any problem with the logitech driver when I connect a non-logitech mouse. Will the second mouse also use the logitech driver, or can I run two mouse drivers at the same time?

two mice connected

I have an mx510 for gaming, and now I'm considering buying a cheap wireless mouse for when I'm not gaming.

Can I have two mice connected at the same time without problems? I'm on winxp.

I guess you could check the doom3/q4 mod source then. It's very much C++.

My current, 2.5 years old xp install only uses about 6 GB for Windows, Docs and settings, and Program Files. That excludes games, of course. I guess the reason it's so small is that I have had to clean it up to make room for new stuff occasionally. So I think I'll go with 20 GB, plus 10 GB unallocat...

Installing on a new HD

I'm getting a 250 MB harddrive today, a Samsung Spinpoint p120. It'll be my new main HD, and I'm going to install winxp on it. So I'm wondering how I should partition it. I want to make reinstalling windows as easy as possible. And the fastest way of reinstalling seems to be a clean install, ie. let...

moddb is too limited, no forums and you don't seem to have control over anything at all. So I guess we'll stay with our hosting company a while longer.

Free mod hosting?

Apparently, Planetquake won't host any more q3 mods. We were thinking about moving Western Quake 3 on to their servers, but they rejected us. I'm guessing because q3 is getting old, and is not as commercially interesting anymore.

Are there other free alternatives?

It's been reported several times already on the xfire forum. here'sone thread. The solution is to disable a setting in xfire:

Options->Privacy->Track kill/death stats for display on profile.

Of course, you lose some of the stats. But they don't seem to work yet anyway.

Confirmed. It appears to be caused by xfire. Might be related to their new stats on your profile page.

Anyone feel like reporting the bug?

Does it continue to do it when you let go of all keys and the mouse? Leave it untouched for 20 seconds and tell us if the message still shows at the top of the screen with the console closed, or if it eventually scrolls off the screen and dissapears. That message SHOULD appear whenever you enter th...

q3 spams my console

This started a couple of months ago. Q3 started printing this in the console (and on screen) maybe a couple of times a minute: "name": "monSter" default: "UnnamedPlayer" monSter is my ingame name. I've tried deleting q3config.cfg both in baseq3 and relevant mod dirs, an...

It'll work allright! You just need to get a bidirectional multi-schlurp injector to interface with the Wunderbaum connector device, and you're good to go. :p
