Another possibility is to take a break and wait for the final 1.1 release. Won't be very long now. Mod teams have had the SDK already, so a new version of q4max will probably arrive soon after the 1.1 release. See below: http://www.esreality.com/?a=post&id=1037381 http://www.q4max.com/forums/vie...

Re: q4 computer suggestions

I have not even enough ram on my computer to run q4 but i was wondering what you guys think i should get for it. I have virtually no ram :puke: (192 megs) and my graphics card is almost obsolete. What can a quake hungry gamer like me do to actually run the game ? (btw i dont have much money so i gus...

I'm looking at Quake 1 levels which haven't been sucessfully ported to Q3. Such as: Dapak1-12 Punish Ultrav Very interesting thread (even for a non-mapper such as myself). A few observations: Some of the levels listed above appear to have already been remade for Half-life. http://dmc-central.com/Do...

I don't think the product is being killed out of spite. After all it's fairly mature so shouldn't require too much development to be kept up to date. My impression is that if the programmer (Ecks) knew how to fix the Q4 issues, he would have done so by now. After all, he can't be enjoying the negati...

Instead of putting it on the 'scrap heap', how about passing the map to another mapper to finish off? Even if it needs a lot more work, this thread has over 25,000 hits, so the finished map will have a very high profile - that should be enough incentive for someone else to pick it up. Layout changes...

I reckon (for multiplayer) they should also take the best community maps and include them as extra content in a future point release. This would: - stimulate the community and encourage more people to make maps - provide extra content for little or no cost - allow the maps chosen to be more widely p...

The point is exactly what I wrote - there's nothing wrong with O'dium listening to people's opinions.

That's a negative slant. The fact that he's listening to the community is a huge positive. It means this map has a chance of being accepted as the definitive dm6 remake.

It's usable if you manually import a server list (File -> Import server list).

I had this problem just after Q4 came out. When the screen turns black, the console is still accessible (CTRL + ALT + tilde) although reconnecting / disconnecting does not fix the issue. I already had ZoneAlarm (firewall) configured to allow Q4 full inbound / outbound access but still had the issue....

I wish. I dont want to de-compile the old either because if id found out they will kill me. I wonder if you could try to get the files for 6++ - see http://www.btinternet.com/~lvlmaker/q3dmmaps.htm I think the author was offering his map files on the Level Editing forum before he gave up mapping.
