Re: Sketchup

I generally build everything out of components and groups. This gets around the face merging (although i find that to be extremely useful as it keeps everything very neat and presentable). Basically what I'm saying is that - when you build something in Sketchup - make damned sure you know what the f...

Re: Sketchup

We tried it at work for awhile but ended up abandoning it in favor of 2D overhead drawings + 3D concepts of areas. It's good if you're really adept at using it, and you're just doing a quick basic layout, but it can really suck when you start doing multiple revisions on a layout. I'm surprised anyo...

Re: Sketchup

sketchup is used in lots of games companies as a previsualization tool. It's a very useful and powerful way of showing your ideas clearly and quickly at a very early stage.

Q4 MP map LFZ

New Q4 DM map called LFZ!!! This started as a test map to try and learn new stuff but as the games that the assets were intended for kept getting delayed I ended up making it into a small Q4 map. It needs some polish work but unless there is anything horribly wrong with it then this will be the fina...

Re: Screenshots

Gee wiz... those are nice textures. Nice use of normal maps. High-poly model generated? Looks a little too "clean" though, slap some decals here and there to give it that "aged" look. Some of the textures were generated from models in max (which im currently learning how to use ...

Re: Screenshots

I've been admiring the work in this thread since it was on about page 30, so I thought I would contribute after lurking for so long (ignore framerate as screens taken in the editor on a low end system).
