Re: Typography Help

2-1-3, but I still prefer Verdana, which is one of my favourite fonts and seems reasonably legible for online viewing.

Re: Looking for former Map-center or Levelmakers mods/admins

I pass through here every few days or so, but it's purely a nostalgia trip. Quite awhile since I played Q3A or TA, or did any beta testing, or reviews for ..::lvl. What sort of info did you want, Infernis?

Nice to see some of the old lags are still around.

Re: Focal Point - Beta

And my days of seeing sparklies also seem to have passed. But I did spot an untextured brush face on the left-hand side of the stairs up from the RL to the haste/quad area. It's at the RL end. I also note that through the window near the RL you can see a small part of the map which ought not t...

It all happens too fast for it to register, unlike the tubes in Vortex Portal. I did think there was possible some intermediate place during the process, but it was impossible to tell. Oh well.

Re: Halls of Intersection

Yeah, that drop to the JP to the MH was an interesting addition. I didn't notice the pit around the statue and kept trying to jump from the landing. I did think the pit, when I spotted it, was going to kill me. Anyway, the result does stop the map from being a run from one major item to another. The...

Re: Halls of Intersection

My suspicion is that the DC map pack is probably subject to the same EULA restrictions as Q3 and TA. Although id might've allowed certain textures to be included, it's still not permissible to redistribute individual textures. A related case from a few years ago was the matter of modified id texture...

Re: Halls of Intersection

I like the lighting. Very atmospheric and it really suits the map, but it's not so dull that you strain to see where you opponents are. The texturing and style are uniform, and again they suit the overall look of the map. I note, however, that the floor texture on the ground floor is actually from Q...

Re: Level makers is kaput?

I pass by this place fairly regularly, but I'm kind of out of all this these days. Yeah, I'm still here behind the Wall. And the GFW's getting thicker. "You haven't visited Facebook in a while" a mail message tells me this morning. While that's quite true, I won't be seeing Facebook any ti...

Re: Level makers is kaput?

I'm guessing Astro hasn't paid the bill. He may just have let it die. I don't know if .eb can shed any light on the situation. I suspect dONKEY's probably just as much in the dark as everyone else.

Re: Looking for Giant Quake 3 maps

Whatever happened to Snickelfritz? He used to be a mod here before I took over and then he more or less just disappeared. I think FlatIron was his only map. I had a couple of mail messages from him after that, but then he disappeared. I know that he also made a rail map, one of the novelty ones wit...

My take on Gaiman is that he's good at the art, but no writer. Perhaps I'll be pleasantly surprised when the film comes out. Neil Gaimen is a writer, not an artist. I thought he also did the art as well as the words for the Sandman series (graphic novel) and was more principally an artist than a wr...

if they stay true to the actual Beowulf story (or if they even get within a few miles of staying true to it) there is no way this won't be incredible... the visuals could be awesome, they could be terrible, it won't matter as long as it's actually Beowulf Huh?! Have you read the poem? It has virtua...

I'd say this is a good auxiliary texture set which could be incorporated with others, but it's incomplete in itself. You need more floor textures; lights; trims; you need to add JP and launch pad textures to match the rest of the set. You might also consider CTF/team play textures and decorative ele...

Unless one of the other mappers involved takes up the baton, things might be a little quiet because Infernis is taking some time off from the mapping scene.

Personally, I wouldn't worry about it. I've been stuck with ATi cards for years now. In the end, you're playing the game, not the sky. I can see the lines; I'm not bothered.

I did see the source map for Chartres a few years back when qkq shared it with Team Huh (now deceased). Sounds to me as if the two areas you're trying to seal off are not completely separate. In other words, if you stick an AP brush in a door, there shouldn't be some other connection between the two areas, otherwise it won't work. Think of it in similar terms to a hull leak in the map.
