The "procedurally generated" exploration line really doesn't grab me at all... eventually it'll just be a grind. I think it was one of the penny arcade guys who said he was playing it and couldn't get away from "seeing the numbers" under the game... if you know it's randomly generated then it becomes less interesting.
I imagine this game becoming a bit like Torchlight, which was sort of enjoyable until the end of the "story bit, then it was just going from one generated level to the next... with no end other than when you stop playing. meh
Prefer a bit of actual story, I don't think NMS has any (yet?). Maybe it'll surprise everyone with some mad reveal about the nature of the universe?
They should put out a 48h test version! Today you gonna miss some good games caused by not existing demos.
Last night i found a cool game called "Monster Jam Battlegrounds" on some p.rate site... Next time its on sale i will buy it. It has alot of lacks, but i had alot of fun playing it!
So apparently you can't even fly lower than a predefined margin, like there's an impassable layer of air around a planet. Someone modded the game to fix that and made this comparison video:

Now, that's cute and all (and I don't really understand why Hello Games didn't implement it this way from the start) but what struck me most is how awful the drawing distance appears to be. Assets popping in like that is just hideous.
You probably answered your own question. They saw how shitty the drawing distance was and decided they'd control your speed and trajectory to minimize the damage.
I love shitting on this game, but it's really bitter sweet. I had such high hopes for it and really wanted to enjoy it...
