yeah im bafled by it! i like it
good to know the q4 mp gameplay is very skill focused!
when is the Enemy Territory QWars due btw? somewhere in end 2006 im thinking
Wont be that let. Talking on a graphical AND gameplay point of view, that would be quite odd. IMHO.
There are far better looking and maybe even far better playing games that will come out at the end of this year.
comparable maybe. but better? q4 is aimed @ end of this year, if they could up the graphics they would. QW looks like it has a higher standard, so it must be planned for 2006 at least right.
Seeing as how ETQW is a multiplayer-only game, I imagine its development time won't be anywhere nearly as long as a robust singleplayer game's would be.
And besides, even though we just heard about it, they've been working on it for a long time. Remember when Hollenshead accidentally spilled the beans that Splash Damage were working on a new Wolfenstein game? By "Wolfenstein" he probably meant Enemy Territory -- this. And how long ago was it when Splash Damage announced they were working on a retail game with the DOOM 3 engine? That seems like a very, very long time ago.
And it's obvious that a lot of work has already gone into it.
On a side note -- I'm confused and unhappy that now there will be two game in the Quake universe known as "QW." Ugh.
This line only remake is total rubbish I've ever seen!!! Fuck off!!! --CZghost

Only one official though Any posts like news, forum threads etc. will most likely be marked ETQW or something though, so won't be too big a problem really.

This is a pic somebody at my forums posted, and it sums up how i feel exactly about Quake 4 and ET:QW:
Just a shame the marines look like BF marines and not Quake 2/4 marines, but you have to give it to id software because that strogg in ET:QW just blows Quake 4's strogg out of the water in terms of visual style...
EDIT: Polycount and texture resolution don't even come into play here either. The strogg on the right is perfect. Dead, grey skin with dark grey/brown metal, dark red blood and style. Versus bright red armor, bright red blood, pink skin and a retarded face.

Couldn't agree with you more tbh. The ETQW strogg is much better.
Also as long as ETQW isn't MMOFPS we should be able to tinker with the engine and media and get some classic Q2 marines in there.
so...rtcw2...we heard that it was being developed outside of id, but nothing more. this isnt rtcw2, so that rules out splash damage, and raven on q4. so who's doing it? grey matter?

I've heard that too, but I guess it's possible that they in fact were talking about Enemy Territory 2, which would be Quake Wars.

"In the story critically, you're captured, and after you're captured you're taken to the "Stroggification plant" for lack of a better word, where you undergo the partial process of becoming one of the Strogg members. Your limbs are severed, you're fitted with implants. You even have a chip put into your brain, but right before it's activated you're rescued by the members of your Rhino squad. So, uniquely, you have the ability to read what Strogg language looks like, and you can see the visual change immediately as you begin to read Strogg writing. As you play the game, your HUD changes and becomes something that more of the Strogg colors than the Marine colors. You have the ability to run faster and jump higher because you have these mechanical implants that are super-human in terms of strength and speed. And critically important is that you can interface with the Strogg communication system and network. While you start out as a small yet important part, then you become the critical element in the battle of the Earth defense forces against the Strogg. We like to say "To defeat the Strogg, you have to become one of them."
Yeah I agree. I have a feeling singleplayer will be lots of fun and action And MP too it seems. Probably be the best Quake to date.
