I really like that stuff fjoggs. It sort of looks like you just drew a random shape for a cross section of a hall and made that your whole theme. It looks really great.

wow fjoggs that stuff looks really fluid. something you'd not expect of a base-styled map.

I've never played Jailbreak before, but from the looks of these maps you guys have posted, I'm certainly gonna have to try it out. :icon14:

P.S. Welcome back, neotic. You can get your old account back, check GD.

Thanks! Wasn't sure if anyone would remember me around these parts. I couldnt log in to my old name "neotic" and when I asked it to send me a new password to last2exit@hotmail.com - the email never showed up... and risking sounding like a newb, whats GD?

Thanks mate.

General Discussion.

The email password thing doesn't work. You'll need to post in this thread to get it activated. Welcome back btw.

I had to convert my old CS map, I have never used any WC/Hammer before but it took like 30 min to get used to it. I think I can never go back to the Q3A engine after this... HL2 is just too good for making industrial and realistic maps.... :( The version for True Combat is completely off now... There is some things I don't like with source and HL2 thought, that I think was much better in Q3, when I have time I might list a bit, never have time anymore...

The new

I have only made this one room. Im making this map 'on the side' of some others.... Still Im pretty sure, that within two months this map will be a good playable beta, since its just a port... layout will be almost the same.

Well, I can honestly say I like the looks of the Q3 pic better. All looks excellent as usuall Hipshot, but the Q3 pic wins the pie this round imo. :)

I've seen a excellent guide over at map-center on how to build in Radiant and transfer over to Hammer for things like this. Tried it a few times but couldn't stand CS/HL for more than a hour at a time or so...

Yes I considered doing that until I realised that the drawbacks were just too numerous to make it worthwhile.

btw IMHO the Source version of that map looked way better than the Q3A version - although the Q3A version looked pretty sweet too.

Righty Right Sir, using InDesign, but quark has some slightly advantages over InDesign in some postscript/font issues though....

Looks nice there neotic btw...

Early lighting test. Can't seem to be able to remove the stupid black brushes right above and to the left over the right model. Just plain black. It's black in the lightmap aswell. :|

The great thing is it looks damn organic and natural. A feast for the eyes, has some UT2k4 flavour IMO :icon14:

Looks amazing.

Really like how you blended together the organic and the non-organic there.

What are you no-clipping into in that pic?
Seems to end so abruptly.
Or is it a region compile?

My current project is a duel map for cpma.
As the alphastage is done I pass over to betstage and going to add detail now. I also started with my first own texturepack, which i'll use in this map. Here some WIP shots, of the map and the textures as well:
