Hmmm... Router resetting itself.
Hmmm... Router resetting itself.
My router seems to be resetting itself after a few hours of use. It's never done it when I'm in a game, but it seems to always be not connected to the modem when I get home after a few hours of being out and about, and also when I wake up.
I unplug the thing, plug it back in, and in two seconds it's back online. I checked all the settings and there is nothing about automatically turning off the connection in an idle state.
I also tested it out by downloading a few large files overnight from NASA to see if the connection would be functional in the morning. Nope.
What gives?

It curdled, and then I couldn't drink it. So I mixed it with some water, and it was alright again.
I am now sick.

actually DLink has intermittent connectivity issues that are well documented. i know, i have one :/Tormentius wrote:Dlink's consumer and small business grade routers are pretty damned good actually. Their whole switch line right up to enterprise-grade are excellent as well.Duhard wrote:lots of gaylink funboys in here...maybe misguided

Bwahahahahaha. Linksys has by far the shittiest firmware and technical support among any of the consumer-grade brands. When Cisco took over they really should have sacked the entire Linksys dev team and put some of their own guys in there. Don't even get me started on quality assurance as many beta firmwares are more stable than final code.Duhard wrote:real men use linksys..

DI 624. it doesn't have the latest firmware because that's when the intermittent connectivity rears its ugly head.Tormentius wrote:It depends on the model. Which is the one that you have?+JuggerNaut+ wrote:

Heh. Yeah, Cisco bought them with the plan of rebranding and reworking feature-sets to step into the SOHO and consumer market. The problem is that Cisco hasn't cleaned house and brought in good devs and quality control yet. And having decent technical support is kind of requisite for any company selling hardware IMO. Have you ever had a chance to deal with Cisco's enterprise support. Now those people pretty much define what good support should be. It's just too bad their child company isn't structured in hte same way.Duhard wrote: here's the deal...my router fucking owns so I don't need technical support..good support is useful when you have a shitty router..any questions?
