it wasnt close. Floyd still kicks ass, as they showed 2nite. Even tho sir paul and stevie wonder came close, nobody could wear the jock strap of mighty floyd todaysliver wrote: Of course, it wouldn't even be close if McCartney, Madonna, U2 and Pink Floyd weren't past their prime.

I LOVE that song, and yes, Neneh Cherry was THE one for the song.brisk wrote:Damn, Dido cannot sing this song. Neneh Cherry had that edgey voice which complimented the african singer's vocal so well... but this sounds bad. Shame, cos its still a really nice track.
On a different note, there was quite a lot of VERY badly out of tune singing today. Except joss stone, mariah and madonna, who sang great from what I caught of them.
i wasn't getting at you. it's just this and the G8 protests are all 'approved', which has me suspicious. i mean, when Tony Blair is having a big hug with Geldof, the guy who wanted kids to skip school to go protest at Gleneagles, it makes me think that this is no Seattle but instead just a safety valve - and safety valves are part of a system of control4days wrote:eh? lol i suppose that's what it is. - was mainly thinking of going to catch up with the people i only ever see at demos - trash a mcdonalds and maybe doing a bit of shopping, usual anti-capitalist stuff - but if a city centre with a capacity of 150,000 is supposed to be holding over half a mil then it just doesn't sound like it'll be fun.

And I didn't fancy going on my own.
Don't judge that sort of thing too harshly. If you've ever played on stage with a big sound system you'll know what a pain in the ass it is when your monitors aren't loud enough. I'm not saying that was the case necessarily, but sound systems problems are usually the source of intonation "issues" rather than a lack of vocal talent.DRuM wrote:On a different note, there was quite a lot of VERY badly out of tune singing today. Erm, first of all, I have played on stages with big sound systems, and one that comes to mind was the crystal palace bowl in front of about 12,000 people. Secondly, when you're dealing with something as massive as live 8, the monitors will be as loud as the artist needs it. Artists like dido just can't sing that great and it really shows when she sings live. Mariah Carey sung beautifully and in tune.
