2 in the same file is ok by me, i dont care it could be 30 as long as it has the layout you want.

If we could give rgoer sexual favours and coerce him to include script-file item placements in a patch, that would be ultimate win.

I'll get the lube and dig around see if there's an elegant solution.

o'dium,

Would you mind giving some of us nooblars some hints as to how to get started on mapping? I tried opening up a q3 map in the q4 editor (+editor on your exec line guys :) ) but that didn't seem to work. So I guess what I'm asking is, is there a way to open q3 maps so as to tweak them out and convert them into q4 maps? I thought maybe converting dm7 or something would be a good way to get familiar with everything then tackle making a map from scratch.

Hey o'dium, that's not half bad :icon17: Are you keeping an eye on the performance of the map, so that it will not perform considerably worse than the stock maps?

Looks like its coming along ok, be cool if you incorporated a new theme into it though. Something other than the gothic Q3 set, make it your own.

I think he'll have to. It's a copyright infringement to re-use the Q3 ones.

There isn't very many textures left that are not new ;)

Hey i just did something pretty much just going with the flow. YOu see that last shot i posted, theres a huge gear on the wall where the strogg banner used to be in Quake 3? Well, that gear has a hole in middle. At first it was just leading to a wall, but theres a gear on the other side as well. So, I made the middle hollow, and it worked :D I was shooting grenades and rockets and all sorts through it with a little aiming. Quite a fun trick if you pull it off.

is it possible to make different item layouts depending on the mode? 1v1 has to have a MH, and all the other modes need a quad. Don't even bother with the non pro q3dm6 layout, it's a piece of shit.

I was thinking that myself... Maybe I could add a flag some palce to say "only in 1v1"/"only in DM" etc, but if i can, why didn't Quake 4?

BTW guys, would you like item marker models like Quake 4, decals, or both? ATM its both, and i like the decals so they will be staying, so decide on the markers.

Ok guys we have a problem...

Quake 3 has green, yellow, orange and blue health. Quake 4 only has green, yellow and Blue...

And Q3DM6 is full of health... WHAT TO DOES!!

FUCKING HELL, DAMN THIS BASTARD BUGGY PIECE OF SHIT.

I make something, I save it, i compile... ITS NOT THERE? WHY? BECAUSE RADIANT DECIDED THAT ITS NOT GOING TO "REALLY" SAVE YOUR CHANGES. SO IT JUST LOOSES IT. I still have the autosave but fucking hell, I'm trying to add weapons and items to the map, and then i test them and... bam... Nope sorry, you never REALLY did anything. It was us faking it Ha.

AND ITS STILL RESETTING MY WINDOWS.

RAVEN PLZ FIX!!!22

I wish radiant had a stand alone client for quake 4. I don't like the ingame editors. How could you update it? I guess you would have to patch the whole game and do you think Raven is going to put thier attention on the editor?,,, I don't think so.

Exacltly Denz, which means the chances of me finishing this are slim now...

I mean i add something, and i save, and reload it and its not there. Its like every change i make via models/items (not brush work) WILL NOT save.

The thing is, even if i delete the map, or save the map as something else, it saves the map, then i load that one and again, its like i made no changes at all. Clearly a problem with the editor that needs fixing...

OK i've had it... I wanted to use the particle viewer but its not included anymore in radiant for some reason, so i have to load ANOTHER program to view them. But that wont work, it tells me it wants the Q4 DVD. INSERT THE QUAKE 4 DVD it keeps coming up...

ITS IN THE FUCKING DRIVE YOU STUPID TWAT.

Argh... Buggy as shit...

Oh man I hate working with Buggy software. D3 was the same way and Q4 isn't much better. Since they run on the same engine I would have to guess that it's the same editor.

Like I said before I hope those guy's over at Radiant will come out with a good editor for Quake 4. Then I can trust it.

Looks very nice, but is it just me or is the scale slightly off?

Its just you. Scale is 1:1 from Quake 3 (I know because A) I have texture wit hgrids on them to help me and B) I have decompiled the original map JUST for scales).

It may look odd, it may be the view height difference, but its all 1:1. Trust.
