I might be in a minority here but I fucking HATE long movies. If you're going over 2 hours you're going too long.
I would agree with that actually. It's happening a lot now. King Kong, which is an awesome film, is over 3 hours and that is way too long for any film. It really could have easily been 2 hours and still been great.
Although saying that, the film was so good it flew by.

It's also not the type of movie I'd bring a small child too. What with the stabbings and eating of faces.prince1000 wrote:yeah i don't know about that one. and i don't know about movies based on book series that i read when i was in 8th grade.Dek wrote:funny, I see positive movie reviews about Chronicles of Narnia, even though it's an allegory of Christ's life..

star wars is based on the teachings/writings of one joseph campbell, who speaks of this very principle.[xeno]Julios wrote:almost every single story we tell can be traced to our mythological roots.
religions are fantastic stories - why not enjoy the stories on their own merit?
edit: wtf? that came out totally backwards

LotR is the same basic story, but I like it much better. Same story, better execution.[xeno]Julios wrote:almost every single story we tell can be traced to our mythological roots.

I generally hate reading books where children are the main protagonists though, I've always hated that, even when I was a kid.

is that what was recently released with music and visuals over him lecturing? saw about 15 minutes of that and hated it. just wanted to hear him speak straight up.[xeno]Julios wrote:I saw a bit of joseph campbell's Sukhavati: A Place of Bliss. Some interesting stuff - wouldn't mind learning more about that stuff some time.

Great flick about cyrstal meth users.
I'll watch anything with Jason Schwartzman in it. Micky Rourke's character ownz as "the cook".

that's truly an excellent movie.Hannibal wrote:Miller's Crossing: 10/10. Pure cinematic excellence...not one wasted breath or superfluous shot. It's boneriffic.
However, my sources inform me that you've seen this movie in the past. I hope that you saw it again recently, since this thread is only about the MOST RECENT MOVIE YOU SAW.
