im crying and i cant stop, these people on fox news explaining what he went through with no emotion! i cant believe what they did to him , it is a sad night, i pray for his soul and pray for the governor, for having to deal with the death of a innocent man , his blood is in his hands.Tookie you where brave, and now you are an angel, like the bible says you confess your sins and the lord will forgive you and you will enter the gates of the heavan. and that is will he will be. May you rest in peace, thank you for giving us hope,

I have first handedly seen police do foul things to cover up their mistakes and make others look innocent/guility. I hope he rests in peace and I will laugh for eternity if the people who wanted him executed see him in heaven. Atleast he did do some good while he was still here. With the new evidence that was presented I really think that they should have allowed him a little more time, but executing him all goes along with the covering up type thing.

If one of my family members was murdered and they caught the guy red-handed, I'd do everything I could to be able to shoot him myself. Call me barbaric, atavistic, whatever. Can any of you really say you wouldn't feel the same?
I'm sure most of us would feel the same, NS. The question I would have is this: How far can or should we go in using acute emotional reactions to traumatic events as part of the basis for conceptualizing justice?
I guess that we would have to come to an agreement as to the definition of justice. This will vary greatly, as should be tailored to satisfy the victim's family as well as the greater good of society. After all, in most crimes (imo), it is individuals rather than society at large that's harmed. I'll post more later, got shit to do at werk atm...

i know it's only one aspect of the debate but I'm still waiting for someone to present evidence that CP has a deterrent effect on the murder rate.

you'll have to pardon my boy Foo. He doesn't realize what's going on, simply keeps viciously attacking his own foot creeping up on the bone of this argument.

This is all that I require of the justice system, prevent a criminal from re-offending. Granted it's difficult to ascertain at this time if a criminal has been reformed, so erring on the side of safety may be required.

Yeah but our (Canadian) government doesn't do a great job of preventing re-offenses. For example, they recently released a sexual predator back onto the streets of Vancouver after he was quoted saying that he would reoffend and would do whatever it took to get sent back to prison. Honestly, wtf :icon27:

Edit: I think CP should be an option in some situations. IMO there are people who commit crimes terrible enough to warrant them being excised from our world like we would a cancer. That said, I don't believe CP should ever be a first option and should only be used in extreme cases (serial killers, child molestors, serial rapists, etc)

the "lightpole-sized" part before the cocktail stick statement is somehow missing

i'm watching this interview with tookie 2 weeks prior to his death:

http://www.democracynow.org/article.pl? ... /30/153247

he's an extremely articulate man, and either innocent, or a very good liar.
