ive only had a pc for a lil over a year and i know it blows, the fact that your blinded and cant feel any difference is most likely an example of your lack of skill. they went for "realism" and not fun, this will destroy it. unless there is a large team with alot of time to make a total conversion mod, the only game built off this engine that will be any kind of success will be ET: quakewars
and i bet you never even touched defrag to really see and feel how q3 actually is.
I played Q3 from a few months after release, until 2004, I went a few years where I was playing roughly 5 hours a day, I know the difference, but you can take your elitist stance all you like I dont mind. :icon26:
Q4 went for realism? Is that what your saying there? As has been said way to many times for there still to be people out there that dont know it, Q4 is based very heavily on Q3, many properties and settings are straight ports. The major difference is the scale which wasnt taken into account for several things, but realism?
I agree that the engine is not something that was meant for a Quake type game, I have said so many times, but teams like Q4Max are fixing it up, and if Raven ever delivers a decent patch who knows what could change. Quake wars should be fun, but its not going to be something that will appeal to hardcore dm players either so whats left? Wait for UT07??
I did mess with defrag, hopping around a map isnt what Q3 was all about for me, so I dont see how it would show me what Q3 actually is any more then OSP/CPMA/RA3 would. Sure seems to have been the answer for you though...
