Not yet. Those + 4 new ones will be in the final update, but all of the assets are there already (meaning you can now use map pack textures/models/sky/etc. in custom maps and be sure that everyone with a current install will have the correct resources)iluvquake4 wrote:Still downloading the patch. Does it include all the maps from the previous map-pack as well?

GJ on updating it so fast.Requ!em wrote:UpsetChaps' Quake4 Guide updated for 1.1 BETA patch

About the point release:
Nice attempt to fix the sounds (RG and RL louder, MG toned down). Sadly the footsteps still sound like you've got twenty feet when you make dodging moves (quickly alternating strafe left/right).

All mappers can unclip the stairs in their maps now!

Btw other very fast mirrors here: http://www.planetquake4.net/download.ph ... d&lid=2274
Btw the big question is: do you still need all custom maps on the server to be able to connect? I guess not, or do you have to autodl everything before you can enter the game?
A side note about the patch: it would have been much better and much less damaging to the Q4 MP community if id/Raven would have prioritised fixing critical bugs/issues and given out small patches earlier. Strafejumping on stairs could have been fixed months ago and autodownload as well.

We need a list of things that have not been adressed yet in this beta patch, to make it easier for Raven's employees roaming the 'myriad Q4 community forums' for feedback.
- Footsteps still borked
- Player hitboxes still borked
- No demo playing menu yet
- Slow/small mouse movements not being registered now

played the game for a good hour or so last night - could switch weapons easily and everyone on the server was happy.
there was a bit of talk about problems with mouse acceleration, but it sounded more like confusion than a real issue.
ESR reports that a new bug has been introduced in the beta patch: very slight/slow mouse movements are not picked up. I can confirm that if you move your mouse by around 5 millimeters per second, the crosshair doesn't move at all. Now i make mouse movements this small very rarely so i would hardly notice it, but it resulted in a page of complaints on ESR of course.

Damn I was JUST about to post this. This patch screwed up mouse movement....
I try aiming and fast movements are fine, but anything smaller will NOT go smooth, it will go up easyily, down, left and right, but if i move diagonal with the mouse, or any angle, it just refuses to go like it should.
I noticed this when i changed the Zoom sens down a bit and noticed that it would actually move correctly, so i put it back up, carried on playing, and noticed the same on the normal sens.
Damn, as soon as they fix all the other issues, they go and add another one that kills the game...
Get some new beta testers over there
I really hope your guys learned the hardway that closed beta's do NOT work. Look at Quake 3 and RtCW, both had amazing gameplay and everything was great because the community helped build it. Dont go searching for billybobs odd post on some odd forum, just give out a public test next time. If anything it will get you MORE sales...

What's up with this whole "beta" patch thing? Is it just me, or is sending out a beta patch insulting to anyone else? It's not a patch if it's beta and shouldn't be something you're sending out the the general public.
I'm not a beta tester. The company that makes the game should have beta testers. The game has been out for 4 months and they still haven't issued a proper patch.
You're going to have to issue another patch down the road anyways, so just beta test 1.1 yourselves. Once you've released a functional final patch you can save other improvements for 1.2.

A lot of people are complaining that the developer is not listening enough to the community.
By bringing out a beta patch, they allow all of us to suggest further adjustments.
The beta patch doesn't only address game "bugs" but is also providing adjustments that the community suggested, but were not bugs. New features have been added as well.
I think it's great that thay go about it this way, and allow people to have a (little) say in the way the final game will be.
If I had to choose between them beta testing it and only releasing the final patch, or them releasing the beta first and allowing the community to suggest adjustments, I'd pick the latter one. The amount of beta testers has been multiplied. What could be wrong with that?
If anything, releasing a beta patch is not insulting but a sign of respect.

Yeah, I'm definately not insulted by Raven saying "We'd like everybody playing the game on the planet to help test this beta" as opposed to "forty guys on our payroll have tested it and it's good."
The mouse movement thing is a problem, definately.. On large maps where you sometimes track player movement from afar, there's a lot of slow, "subtle" mouse movements.
