Since QuakeWars will be primarily MP ...
Perhaps id should focus on giving QuakeWars all the arena, physics, and other features of Quake 4 and then some. From what I've read the engine is optimized for online play and large amount of players -- it would be a fresh start, and if they retain the same physics, they could easily put in DM, CTF, Tourney, and other modes in it. It would be perfect.

i agree, it'll have consoles and controllers in mind. i find vehicles easier to drive with a controller(halo in mind).Oeloe wrote:I doubt it. Did you play the original ET? It's not exactly like Quake. No hardcore duels/TDM/CTF but objective based game modes. ET:QW most likely will have physics that aren't much like Q3 or Q4 physics (read: slower).
looks to be a halo alternative.

Ah, too bad. Would have been perfect if they made the arena style modes with Q3 physics. I hear the engine is more optimized than Q4, and it would be a good way for them to focus on one MP game for pure action. It would also promote a lot of hybrid style gameplay. If they gave players Q3 physics movement, it would make it so vehicles don't dominate the game but rather complement it -- espeically for large-map objective based modes.
It would give id a fresh start and chance to make good on Q4's lack-luster MP. Give us a game with lots of MP arena modes, great physics, even vehicles and large maps (for objective modes). A game that's built from the ground up with an MP focus.

That makes no sense at all. Then it wouldn't be called Enemy Territory, it would be called UT2K+N. They are not making a new multiplayer Q3, they are making a new multiplayer Enemy Territory, completely different game, different rules, so stop trying to equate the two.
Go play Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory, then come back and talk about what you would like to improve.

"QuakeWars" implies there is a Quake universe involved. It's impossible not to equate the two. Der.

It would.
Starting to come around to the notion though that the best games are highly focused ones. Like the games that don't tackle MP at all have better single player, and games that tackle one focused aspect of MP are more sucessful than the ones that try to 'do it all'.
Oblivion, GTA are good examples of where it's gone right. Q4, D3 and Act of War are good examples of where it hasn't.

Its already known that ET:QW will feature real life style physics over Quake 3 style. Thats a good thing. The weapons will all be "real life possible" weapons for the Humans as well.
The strogg will be as close to Quake as your gonna get in terms of weapons, they will have the hyper blasters and railguns, and the humans will have the real life style weapons.
I think this is a great way of doing it, and i thank god its not like the boring Quake 4 style of weaponry.

I'll definitely be playing as a Strogg, then. I can't stand all those "realistic weapons" shooters (CS, BF2, ET etc. etc.).o'dium wrote:The strogg will be as close to Quake as your gonna get in terms of weapons, they will have the hyper blasters and railguns, and the humans will have the real life style weapons.
I can't stand all the realistic crap that is coming out. Halo 2 (H1 blew) and Quake Wars should be an exception. I like Urban Terror alot, but that's only because you can kill players by driving an HK69 launched grenade through their faces, and drop kick them off of buildings.[TJD]Rico wrote:I'll definitely be playing as a Strogg, then. Oh! By the way, if you are hoping for a fast paced, arena style FPS with vehicles, get Urban Terror for Enemy Territory when it comes out.
