Sinister created the clone because he knew that the genes of Cyclops and Jean Grey could potentially make the "perfect" mutant. They did eventually have a child and that child was Cable.

And maybe I shouldn't have used the word "revived" but it was the phoenix that was responsible for resurecting Jean Grey.
From the above Wiki entry:

"Now thinking that it was really Jean Grey, the Phoenix Force put the real Jean in a cocoon to heal and went on its business as Jean Grey, except now it was calling itself Phoenix"

The "Jean Grey" who died in the battle with the Shi'ar Imperial Guard was actually the copy created by the Phoenix. The real Jean Grey was in stasis the whole time in a cocoon.

And if you doubt the Wiki entry, here is the actual note direct from the marveldatabase

"Acting on her wish to save her teammates, the Phoenix Force placed Jean Grey within a protective cocoon and replaced her with a duplicate."

There were 2 copies of Jean Grey - one made by the Phoenix (who died in the Shiar Imperial Guard battle) and one made by Mr. Sinister (Madelyne Pryor).

You're talking about two completely different story arc. Jean Grey/The Phoenix has died about four times. The battle with the Shiar is a different story completely. You can keep citing that fucking Wiki as much as you want but I have the original run of comics. Stop trying.

and i've got the graphic novel sitting on my shelf right here. hax is right. the phoenix of the dark phoenix saga - the one that came out of the lake and is portrayed in the film - was not actually jean grey, who was still in davey jones' locker. check, for instance, uncanny #270 where jean refers to both pryor and phoenix as "extensions of [her] own being"... that is, not literally her being. you're a mook, try going back and reading all your l33t com1x instead of just jerking off to pics of the redhead.

Ok, fair enough. Regardless, he called it a "clone" which led me to believe he was talking about Madelyn Pryor.

menkent, despite seemingly being the winner in this thread, still somehow managed to be a loser :(

i've been rereading some of the old trades recently because the other books i'm reading are kinda boring. if you need me, i'll be over in the corner sorting my d&d dice and trying to build anatomically correct women out of legos. *sigh*

Generally the rule with comics is that they're worthless.
They may be listed at a certain "value" but the problem is that there is virtually no re-sale market for the things.

Y: The Last Man is one of the two best comic books going right now. The first being The Walking Dead.

yea, i just got sick of all the crossovers and alternate super special limited wtfever covers and miniseries that were being pushed in the late 90's. i like the ultimates stories, but not enough to deal with the hassle of trying to keep up with them.
