anyway, to clarify, a lot of indie groups or underground musicians have been able to get more exposure due to piracy. its not just about connections or getting a lucky break any more. im sure theres still some of that but if youre an excellent group, word of mouth passes much more quickly due to piracy from what i can tell.
i know theres a number of groups i would never have heard of if i didn't download (and then purchase) some albums.
i know the same is true for anime titles. piracy has actually helped a lot of titles and the industry "break through".
