I heard that there can be problems if you install some codec packs.
DivX videos have started being split in two with green all over them. This happened after upgrading to Windows Media Player 9.
I don't know if it started before then cause it's a while since I ran a DivX video but I think that might have changed something.
Edit: This is using VLC to play them.

I'd already tried reinstalling it without uninstalling it. Now I've tried uninstalling it then reinstalling it. It does the same thing still.+JuggerNaut+ wrote:i'd try uninstalling/reinstalling VLC first. i don't have any external packs installed and i play all kinds of junk.
I've installed the K-Lite codec pack and that hasn't fixed it.
I remembered that people said that the K-Lite codec pack didn't usually cause problems.

I installed the DivX player and the codec that came with it. It plays it the same as VLC does.+JuggerNaut+ wrote:it never did when i used it before. hm. dzjepp usually is the codec boi, but i just stick with VLC and MPC with no probs.
worse comes to worse, grab the divx player just for divx vids.
Same greenness, same split down the middle of the screen.

Yes this is on WinXP. I tried Media Player Classic, it's even worse. Just a green screen with a cyan bar down the middle and no sound.Grenader wrote:Actually the correct thing to say would be 'Learn not to post when drunk'+JuggerNaut+ wrote:learn to read.Grenader wrote:Klite codec pack.
Is this all on winXP? Try it with a player like media player classic. If it continues then i cant help you. I just install K-lite and run up MPC and walaa.

I managed to get DivX videos to play in Media Player Classic after uninstalling DivX (cause The Codecs pack said to first) and installing The Codecs pack, but they still play the same in VLC. Also MP4 files still play messed up.
Edit: The picture quality's terrible though, the picture is all washed out. Damn these codec packs.
